Another article from Autoblog that is short on facts and long on conjecture. Instead of simply regurgitating what you read somewhere else, why not use critical thinking? Maybe the reason the number of stations are decreasing is because the pump count per station has been increasing for the last 40 years. The days of the mom and pop gas station with two pumps have been replaced by stations with 6+ pumps and a larger footprint.
Did you even read the article? It was focused on the number of gas stations, not how much gas was used.
Don't jump so quickly into your predetermined aruments that you copy and paste from other sites..
We have a growing economy (thanks Obama) and gas is cheap (thanks Obama) of course we are using more gas than when we were in a economic down turn with high gas prices (thanks Bush)..
We however are also using more electric cars than ever.. Meaning we would be using even more gas if not for all those Tesla and other EVS hitting the roads..

I would guess there is a lot of reasons for this. Cars are getting better and better gas mileage so they visit gas stations less - less of a need for them and less of a need for people stopping at gas stations (which means less drinks / snacks / etc sold). Less of a need for gas means less profit for gas stations. Fuel efficient cars combined with more and more electric cars makes gas stations less of a good investment....

We'll see a lot less gas stations in the future.
I know I don't even go inside gas stations anymore. I remember back in the day when everything was cash, I'd always buy drinks or other junk food when I went inside.
Now I always pay at the pump and pretty much only go inside if I need to use the restroom.

weird.... the number of stations is declining because of pump density per station and because your boyfriend fucked up the economy, not because the abundance of electric cars... what a boob! and this is pretty much just another lie that you posted as a fact. ask yourself, would you do business with someone this dishonest?
Just wait........... till the price of electricity, to charge the vehicle, reaches the price of gas
I love electric cars. specially the Tesla
Well Musk is no dummy, he's working on curbing that before it becomes an issue, but gas will not be forever cheap either. I mean really right now $2/gal is considered cheap... wait til it starts hitting $4/gal again.
Honestly, it's very stupid in this day and age to have power reliance 100% on a power grid. Solar is far enough along that we should be moving toward self contained systems.
