Charges should be brought against the security guard who pulled a gun on Olympians, took their money, and scared them off. But no, in Rio the judge blames the Olympians for a security guard pulling a gun and taking their money. Fuck Rio! Rio is a corrupt shithole.

Yes, that is how they framing it now. Saying the security gueard pulled a gun so they had to pay for the damage right away. And than that is so bad , snif snig, cause in ye USA they should have get their right in court. If he pulled a gun, what is just a story, he was right. Else he would never getting his money. Most probably they paid him to shut up, but than started looking for press themselves. In what club have they been? Afraid their boy/girl friends would find out... maybe the story can get more dirty. They should have paid 200 USD and just leave. Else you have to pay the cost, a fine and a lot of bad publicity.

The idea that pulling a gun on someone and making them give you money for something, even if that thing is something they broke, is okay is part of why places like Brazil are considered a shithole to most of the world.

I see the bigger picture. They would have fled away and let the security guard with the cost. So in the end they where robbing someone's salary. And than act as victim if someone like the securuty guard protects his (low) income. The guard would probably had to pay it himself if he didn't get the money. I don't see a gun. I think he just said, or you pay me, or i call the police and you have to pay the damage, get a fine and a criminal record and a stamp in your passport that you aren't welcome anymore. I think that works better than a gun.

Or maybe they showed a gun when the sportsmen got angry. Not strange in Brazil where you have to watch out cause everyone can pull a gun also. Better be the fist before it escalates. They just where plain stupid.

Of course the athletes that did this were being stupid and the people who had stuff damaged should be paid for it.

That said, the idea that the security guard has to pay for this out of his pocket because he couldn't get them to pay for it and the idea having a gun pulled on you is not a strange idea are two more reasons many people think Brazil is a third world shithole.

What would you do when you work in night in one of the most dangerous city in the world and suddenly there are 3 assholes breaking your toilet and piss against the wall. Would you try to fight those big athletes that are in the gym 7 days a week? Or simply pull a gun and let them pay, before they beat you up, go without paying, or shoot you.

This is how it works, you pay them the cost and negotiate a price. If you are walking there with clothes that are a year salary for a guard, i can imagine he would not let you go with 10 USD if you act like that.
