anybody got simple instructions how to create ZIP files from the contents of a directory?

using WinZip, it's pretty simple
I run it in Wizard format, and select:
'Create a new Zip file' + click "Next"
then I browse for the folder I want to put the created zip in, and name it (ex: c:\folder\yourzipfile.zip)
the next screen, you just select the files/folders you want to include in the zip file + hit 'Zip Now'
should be all done -
Another way....
Install Winzip.
Go to the folder with the images you want to zip, left click the folder on the left hand pane of windows explorer.
On the right hand side, you will see all the files in that folder.
Highlight them by holding down your right mouse button. They should turn blue.
A menu will also pop up, and you should see a winzip icon. Highlight it, and another menu will open.
It will give you a bunch of options. There should be one that says "add to directoryname.zip"
Click that one.
It will zip all your files, and you will have a zip file named "directoryname.zip" appear in the same folder containing the pictures you just zipped.ICQ: 316365783

I have winrar and I do it the following way....just right click on the folder you want to zip and choose "add to archive"...et voilaComment

if you have telnet access to the server and, if its running unix you can use gz (i think thats what its called =) ....Originally posted by Mutt

its a text command, type in ? gz or something for the parameters.
