www.overture.com

Big PPC search engine which syndicates listings on lots of big search engines like Yahoo, Altavista (which they just recently bought) and many more. A good way to get traffic fast on many search engines but their quality isn't that great anymore and they have editors that like to make you jump through hoops to get anything listed.

Yep, I've had terrible luck with their editors. I recommend Google Adwords above Overture by a long shot. I used to use Overture (previously GoTo) as my PPC advertiser, as well as an affiliate (paid $0.02 per active search - but they dropped me from that without noticy, and refused to tell me why I was dropped). AOL has decided to go with Google over Overture...basically they're a dying service...for good reasons.

No, Google adwords won't work at all, I spent thousands and no signups at all.

Ad words are pretty expensive too.

They started with goto, became big with being the main PPC search engine, turned their name into Overture, and recently bough a major search engine.

You got to give Overture credit for being a dot.com survivor. I remember a few years ago they were never even mentioned as having a killer business model and were completely overlooked by analysts...and yet they made it and went public and kept a high-flying stock while so many crashed around them.

Sex.com works the same way - but targeted to adult webmasters and surfers. As long as it's legal - 'editors' won't hassle webmasters much about listings. Bid prices are 3 cents minimum (Overture is 10 cents minimum).

Sex.com also has 60+ different landing pages you can list on for international traffic.

Overture sucks. Overpriced, shitty traffic, and an all around pain in the ass.

Just like anything, you have to know how to work it.
Some people do well with TGP's
Some do well with PPC
Some do well in the SE's

One gallery might do well on one TGP,
but then not on another.

If you purchase traffic, I have noticed to stay away
from common words. find a phrase or niche you want to target.
and if you use your own paysite, seems to work better.
Most of the bigger sites seem to be used to much, but if you find the right catch phrase or not common word, you are in the money.

not sure if that makes sense, I am going to go have another beer, and read this again.

you can't generalize, both overture and adwords can be very good for adult biz, you can literally build your empire with these two partners...so you can't generalize good or bad
