Why not? The United States is now the largest producer of oil in the world. Russia is right behind them, and when their technology catches up to ours - which will happen in the next decade - they will be produce yet even more oil. By then China will have kicked in.

Through out history the entire world has depended on the middle east for oil because that was where the oil was. Now this has changed. There is oil every where and we now how to get to it. The countries that depend on oil to support themselves are in for a big surprise.

Whatever anyone's views on the cause and solution of modern terror attacks, the whole thing is so horrifying and awful. I love France - esp Paris and Nice - and was hoping to go there and live for a year or two, but I don't know anymore.
