His latest Megaupload was the victim of hostile takeover by two Chinese partners. Last year Kimdotcom moved out of his sprawling mansion into an apartment. A few days ago anonymous buyers purchased the mansion, word is it was purchased for him by some anonymous Chinese. He'll be happy to move back in I bet!

He'll very likely be in jail by then. His appeal on the extradition is set for August. If he loses that he will be sent to the US to stand trail and I don't like his chances of winning that trial. I suppose he could flee to a country where there is no US extradition, but I'm not sure if he would be able to pull that off.

New Zealand wont be pushed around by the US - If they think he will not be treated fairly as he would be in NZ they wont extradite him...

It's possible. He already lost the first round and a judge approved the extradition, now he is appealing it. If he loses that I suppose he could ask the government not to extradite him, but the New Zealand government has worked with the US government during this entire case so I have a feeling they would send him as opposed to deal with all the potential legal issues that could pop up.

Personally, I think he will lose the appeal and then try to run to somewhere with no US extradition. I don't know if he will make it there, but I think he will try.

He is not stupid - He made himself a public figure in NZ with his political party stunt - The NZ government know they cant just quietly ship him off to the US to serve a huge sentance...

                            We will see.....

I won't be shocked to see him find some other legal recourse that drags this out for another couple of years.

He was charged and a hearing was held to extradite him to the US. The court found he should be extradited to the US to stand trial. He appealed the decision and his appeal will be heard in August. I guess we will see what happens then. It seems like there are a few possible outcomes:
                                    1. He loses the appeal and is sent to the US to stand trial.

                                    2. He loses the appeal and files some other lawsuit that delays the proceedings.

                                    3. He loses and and New Zealand's government refuses to send him to the US.

                                    4. He loses and tries to flee to another country.

                                    5. He wins his appeal and ends up dodging a serious bullet.

I think he'll lose because one of his programmers (Andrus Nõmm) already served time in Federal prison on this case. He admitted that they all knew what they were doing and he was under the direction of Kim. So programmer goes to jail for doing what he was told, the person who directed him will go to, in this case anyway.

I agree. The US government says they have emails and other communications between Dotcom and the other members of his crew talking about how they not only knew about the copyright infringement, they laughed at how much they were making and were helping people use their system for just that purpose. If he ends up on trial in the US I have a feeling he will cut a deal because I think some of his other crew members will do just that and agree to testify against him. If the government really has those emails it is going to be very hard for him to win his case.

The full appeals process should be done in 2017. He'll appeal the August ruling and then there's two or three more appeals he can do to supreme court, etc. My guess is by 2018 he'll have started losing weight on the federal prison meal rationing weight loss program. Sucks somebody so brilliant took the dark road, he could have done so much better doing a legal business, damn.

Yep. He is obviously a smart guy, but ever business he gets involved in ends with him getting arrested. If he focused on doing something legal he could have success and not worry about going to jail.

US and friends will feed him his ass for it.

If he loses that he will be sent to the US to stand trail and I don't like his chances of winning that trial. I suppose he could flee to a country where there is no US extradition, but I'm not sure if he would be able to pull that off.
His best options for "no US extradition" would be in no particular order:

Andorra (small landlocked but very sweet place)

Cape Verde (heard good things but dont know much)

                                                  Nepal (home of legal cannabis)

                                                  China (the Panda)

Russia (a nice Eurasian nation with a love-hate US relationship, mainly hate)

Saudi Arabia (awesome place, awesome lifestyle)

UAE (he could just base his ass in Dubai)

Indonesia (a nice SE asian nation)

                                                  Brunei (another SE asian nation)

Vietnam (A nice SE asian nation with awesome food)

The other 70 or 80 options aren't great...

Westerners live in seperate enclaves anyway and basically do what they want. As for unwritten rules, there's way more hype than reality. As for lack of freedom and rights, there is truth in that but it doesn't affect 99%.
