Went to my first ever baseball game yesterday

    And i enjoyed it

I find it boring as hell at times when watching on tv, but the experience of being there and seeing how different the whole setup is compared to going to a football (soccer) game here. It actually felt like a fun day out. And at least they sell booze. Back home alcohol has been banned for years at games.

Oh and Detroit won 10 - 3 lol.

That's one off my checklist. I still wanna check out an NFL, an NBA and an NHL game.

I've never been to an NFL or NHL game, but MLB and NBA games are always fun. NBA is much more exciting than baseball, especially if you have the chance to see a top player like LeBron or Durant.

In NYC you can buy drinks until the 7th inning. Was this the deal in Detroit?

I'm going to see the Yankees in Cleveland next week.

      Spend you some brain.

Yeah helps when the tigers score ten runs huh? hehe Painful to watch if one team gets way ahead early, at least it was spread out at this game, but generally it's a good atmosphere there.

It depends, if it is in regular season, could be boring, but in finals very exciting... I just remember this game vs usa, 2013..

What was the total bill? Took my niece and nephew to a baseball game recently, when it was all said and done, it cost me ~$500. We didn't go hogwild either, just reasonably good seats and refreshments. No foam #1 fingers.

This one was a birthday treat from Ross. I'm over visiting for a few weeks so kudos Ross (and Angela) for a great day out

Am I the only one with no patience to sit through a game? I loved playing Baseball, football, soccer and being on swim team, but I can sit through watching any if them on TV or in person, but swimming.

Hmm, I was being told that MLB is the "game of the people" because it has cheap seats compared to nba, nfl etc. Like under 10 bucks in 2004 times (I was told this back then).

there's no reason to go to a baseball game and sit in the nosebleed section. but here's some info on the average cost of attending a mlb game. Average for my team is ~$250. that' cutting corners and watching your spending. 1 beer and 1 hot dog only.

                                        https://www.teammarketing.com/public...0fci%20(1).pdf

either way, i shared a personal experience, feel free to "hmm" it all you want. i've been "hmmed" around here about what kind of fucking shoes i wear, not surprised you're questioning my attending a ball game and not worrying about keeping it to 1 $12 beer.

Surprised a sports team still sells canned beer as it can be a dangerous weapon when thrown full.

Instead of NBA game, go to a top university basketball game. The band, the cheerleaders and the crowd almost make it a religious event. Took my son to several Kansas Univ. games. Before the opening the cheerleaders are leading the slow and building to a rise, repeating chant, "Rock, Chalk, K-U."
Announcing the other team players, fans hold newspapers in front of them and shake them liked they're bored. Then when KU is announced, papers are shredded into confetti. In the student & general admission seats, you only sit down at 1/2 time.
If an opposing player totally misses a shot, the chant of "air ball," fills the court.
For teams from smaller schools, this can be an intimidation factor an take them off their game.

As for NFL, again go big. Fans at places like the Chief's stadium, are so loud the opposing team can't hear the quarterback call the signals to hike the ball.

For all sports, tailgating is part of the enjoyment.

You take things way too personal. I was just curious since I remembered that guy in 2004 telling me that baseball was the cheapest of all major US leagues.

i didn't take it personally, i took it at face value. when someone posts that they did something, and someone else posts "hmm, according to what i was told 12 years ago....." in response to that, it's certainly not unreasonable to read that "hmm,...." as a questioning the validity of the post.

American sports vs European Sports for Dummies.

1.) We only sing twice during the game. The National Anthem and then 7th inning stretch.

2.) Nobody gets trampled to death after or during the game.

3.) Face painting is your first clue that you might want to sit somewhere else or at least keep an eye on that superfan. He's the guy who will throw his beer or spill his nachos on you during an outburst.

                                                      4) You will probably hear a lot of racism during the game towards the players...especially when they are losing, even though the fans are rooting for the team that the African Americans who are playing the game. I've never understood that...but....even rednecks have money to buy tickets to the game.

                                                      5) Americans dislike being touched or having people in their space. This pretty much applies to everything and not just sporting events. Remember that when you are standing in line for a hot dog. Stand and be quiet, get your dog and beer and go back to your seat. Americans don't like to make chit chat when standing in lines. Lines are not a common occurrence here, except for the pisser and beer lines.

6.) If you catch a baseball you are allowed to keep it. Unless you are at Wrigley Field and its a home run by the other team. If you don't throw it back, you will get your ass beat in the bleacher section.

                                                      7) Those women down on the field are cheerleaders or Michele Tafoya, both equally worthless and irrelevant to the actual game.

With that, I'm going to go watch the Poland vs Portugal game I started on the DVR because I was out running errands when the game started today.

it's not very cheap generally in san francisco ATT park, Glen. cheaper than nascar, nfl and basketball, yes, but certainly not generally cheap. we can't even park within 1 mile of the park for <$40. most games cheapest seats are $30+. decent seats are >$70 and many times, for good regular season games, they double the price.

parking in the stadium close parking lot is $65, how much is parking there?
I try to make it to some Seattle Mariner games each year and parking can be as much as the ticket. It's about $20-$30 for parking anywhere near the stadium. We park downtown and take the tram there which is hell of a lot less. You can get some pretty good seats for about $20-$30, but the premium seats are around $200-$250 (there are a lot of rich people in Seattle so they have very little problem selling them).

At one game I went to last year my brother and I bought bleacher sears for something like $12. We ended up walking around the stadium for most of the game sampling food and standing and watching the game from different sections. It was actually a cool way to see the game.

I saw a couple Kings games when I lived in LA, but the highlight of all the games no matter the league was the year Mario Lemieux came out of retirement my brother and I drove to Vancouver BC to see the Penguins play the Canucks. The Pens lost the game, but we had great seats and got an amazing view of Mario scoring a highlight caliber goal. As a lifelong Pens and Mario fan it was well worth the money and freezing my ass off waiting for the train outside the stadium.

It actually felt like a fun day out. And at least they sell booze. Back home alcohol has been banned for years at games.

BORING as hell, expensive ($250 for the tickets, $20 for a beer and a hot dog, fuck..). Much better watching at home. Which I would, if I liked Hockey, which I don't, so balls.

parking in the stadium close parking lot is $65, how much is parking there?
the most you will pay for parking by comerica park is probably 20 bucks. we usually pay 10 about 2 blocks over. I don't think we'd go to many games if it was much more than that. Toronto is pretty damn expensive though. avg 30-40 for parking, seats are generally 50 (cad) for about the same bleacher seats we get and concessions are through the roof. The only good deal in toronto are the 2$ jumbo hotdogs outside.
