    Italy and Croatia Vacation

I'm headed to Venice and a few spots in Croatia next week. If anyone has any suggestions of places to go, restaurants to eat at, things to see etc I would greatly appreciate it!

Hitting venice, hvar, split, dubrovnik, and durres albania.

    Thanks so much!

I just spoke about Croatia and apparently they do not have sandy beaches with such a long coastline. I know it is well known for pebbles, but I thought there would be plenty of sandy beaches as well.

Greece is really where it's at to be honest for views, beaches, and fun. Italy is too mainstream I guess LOL

                Croatia:
If you're close to PAG then go to the clubs on the beach and try and find Hotel/Restaurant Boskinac for a 1.4 kilo T-bone.
If you're close to Plitvice than go for the national parks and do some kayaking down the waterfalls.

There are sand beaches but yes most of them is peeble based, one of reasons why i hated going to Sea(along having an allergy to sun ) . Most notable are Zrce at island Pag and Novalja and Bol at Island Brac.

You mean most notable of those few sandy beaches? Or most notable pebble beaches (because wiki says ZRCE is pebbles : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zrće ) ?

In Venice, don't eat anywhere down by the main canal next to the Rialto Bridge. It is generic shitty Italian food that you'll pay minimum of 50% more for just because it is on the canal and you can see Rialto. There are some real nice places to eat in St Mark's square, I'd check them out. There is a pizza bar I found, I likely couldn't find it again if my life depended on it but it was the best pizza I have had, fresh and it was huge. I think you can find them all over, you certainly cant miss them due to the size. Make sure you try it, you won't regret it.

Hula Hula club on Hvar! So good. Fife restaurant in Split, best and freshest seafood for peanuts. Dubrovnik you can do the GoT tours which is great if youre into it and just go everywhere. Buza bar is a good stop as you can have a spot of cliff jumping with your beer! I would do a side trip to Mljet island as well. Ferries are cheap and plentiful.

Hmm i would swear it was sandy when i visited it last time, tho that was like 16 years ago.
They maybe added peeble to deal with wind, i remember every time when there was strong wind it would destroy bar inventory.

I'm staying in St. Marks square while in Venice and I need a few lunch and dinner spots for the first night. Any suggestions would be fantastic. Thanks again!

Fife is now on my list. I'll need to find out what the GoT tours are. I'll look into Buz Bar too. Thanks again.

I live in California and a lot of my friends go to Mexico on vacation. The Mexico I've come to know and the Mexico they visit is two vastly different things. They go to "tourist" Mexico.

It's just like England. I made two trips to England in the past few years. The first time I stayed in London, and did all of the tourist stuff. On the second trip I stayed in Bridgewater at the Dating Factory offices there, and it was completely different. I stayed in a business hotel, and we sure did do some tourist stuff, but for the most part we ate in local restaurants and even at people's houses.

My point is the tourist crap isn't really real.

But basically sandy beaches could be found on the islands and not on the regular coastline of the country?

Yes, beautiful city. I didn't book anything. Just walked in the city and there was a guy who had an office for apartments (you see that everywhere in croatia) and he had a great apartment in the center for us.

Sibinek was great also and Zadar is number 2 of my list of great cities in Croatia.

And if you go by the coastline you can visit National Parc Krka so you can strech your legs for an hour of 2.

Take a car, driva around the cost and it is easy to find something to rent.

                                      everything is fake

This is like top 100 of sand beaches and some of them are on islands.
Title says "100 beaches", not "100 sandy beaches".
If there were as many as 100 sandy beaches, why would you say that there are almost none sandy beaches?
So no, these are not 100 sandy beaches, these are 100 beaches.

They do not have to be. It was just a random discussion we had debating whether Croatia had sandy beaches and that it was strange it (almost) had none with such a long coastline
Coincidence was that we debated it one day prior to this thread, hence why I asked.

Ps: having said that they do not have to be, it is a matter of preference, I prefer sandy.

Maybe it's connected with the size of waves. Big waves - sandy beaches. Adriatic sea is relatively closed sea, no big waves.

OP, be careful with taxis in Dalmatia, they'll rip you off, try using Uber if available.
