European leaders fear Brexit vote could herald EU collapse unless radical reforms are introduced

More countries will follow Britain out of the European Union - threatening the survival of the entire project - unless there is significant reform, according to a string of nations both inside and outside the EU.

The bloc needed to listen to the anger and disillusionment of its citizens or risk implosion, leaders across the continent said.

The countries leaders need to play hardball with the EU leaders. It will be tough, but has to be done. Before the UK leaves. So the reformed EU is worth staying IN.

The overlords will never resign. They have to be sacked.

Germany and France face election in 2017. There is no way either of them will play hardball with the UK and lose their voter's jobs. Both of these countries have a growing Eurosceptic section of voters. Both need the UK more than the UK needs them.

Theres already talk of France holding a referendum...Frexit if yo will...The EU had better start paying attention and ease up on the liberal ideology, move it more to the center.....and The Democrats here (and Republicans) had better start paying attention as well seems the average schmoe who didnt normally vote is taking an interest and theres enough of those average Schmoes to decide the election...If over the next year or so it turns out to be good for Britain (and I think it will) you could see a mass exodus

Most Europeans would vote for a return to the Common Market in a heartbeat. EUpean politicians kidnapped the voters by creating the EU and taking the trade deal with them. Politicians want a superstate, few voters do and most voters have suffered badly from it.

Read this part.

Quote:
"The British case is unique. But we must also acknowledge that support and passion for our common project has faded over the last decade in parts of our societies. Neither a simple call for more Europe nor a phase of mere reflection can be an adequate answer. To prevent the silent creeping erosion of our European project we have to be more focused on essentials and on meeting the concrete expectations of our citizens. We are convinced that it is not the existence of the Union that they object to but the way it functions. Our task is twofold: we have to strictly focus our joint efforts on those challenges that can only be addressed by common European answers, while leaving others to national or regional decision making and variation. And we must deliver better on those issues we have chosen to focus on."
He uses the word "our" a lot. does he mean the people or politicians?

He says "concrete expectations of our citizens". Which are what? Without these countries being asked if they want in or out. He doesn't know.

This is politicians talking about their goals, dreams, and jobs. At no time will they ask the French and Germans what they want.

I do however agree with the part about the strong nations joining together and dumping the poorer ones. It's a pity these buffoons made the poorer nations even poorer. Will they repay their debts or just dump them?
