Wow, it's a good thing we had you here to set us straight or we might have gone on recklessly excercising our rights to make our own decisions.

Fuck I can do it but the hidden image shows through. Check out this one, you can't even see it. I wonder how they keep the hidden one from showing through.

That guy has about 14 extra steps. If you guys are really interested, I can write a tutorial on how I did it.

BUMP.

Any news?

gornyhuy 03-31-2003 12:36 PM

Maybe try a bottom/background layer of all white. That way the gray background of GFY won't shine through your transparency and screw up the quality.

traffictrader 03-31-2003 12:48 PM

wow, that's the best use of photoshop tricks I've seen in years, i can't believe I've never seen anything like that before, whoever figured that out deserves a medal =)):thumbsup

Rick Latona 03-31-2003 01:08 PM

What a great trick. Really is excellent.

Man, what is it with this grey background on GFY? In my graphics program and in a browser by itself, that thing is golden; there is no indication of the secondary picture. here on GFY, you can sort of see the bottom picture. Maybe I should just greyscale all the images.

SpaceAce

Actually .. its not the grey background .. but the GFY gray highlight color that is the problem. (I think)

Its your comp, not your browser. Just hi lite it like you do a block of text you want to copy.

I'm using Windows XP and my browser doesn't do it. We don't all use IE on Windows.

Okay my question is how did these guys make it so that the top layered image pretty much disappears...when you highlight the bush pic you only see the hitler pic same goes with the flower pic.

However everytime I try this is what I get:

http://www.internationalwdc.com/images/omg.jpg

If you highlight my image you still see the soldier in the background...anyone figure out a way to correct this?

Well, even just sitting ther un-highlighted it looks worse. It's easier to see the hidden picture against the GFY background. Then, when you actually highlight it, the hidden picture doesn't show up as well!

Hm, that's a thought but I don't think there should be any transparency that goes all the way through because the base image is set to a normal blend mode.

Looks to me like you didn't properly offset the black/transparent masks.

I think the problem with this and some others I've seen with the same problem is that you're using JPG instead of GIF. The checkerboard of pixels has to be exactly every other pixel to completely hide the primary image. The GIF will preserve each pixel exactly, while JPG introduces anomolies (bleeding of color between pixels) as it compresses the image. Also, if you find that the wrong image disappears (e.g. the background image disappears entirely, and just the foreground remains), you need to move things one pixel to the left or right...e.g., you could crop out the left-most column of pixels.
