    Lets pretend there really was some illegal shit going on between Trump / Manafort / Gates ..

    Whether it was money laundering, collusion, whatever you crazed Hillbots can conjure up in your deluded brains...why in the world would Manafort or Gates squeal on Trump when you KNOW Trump would just pardon them anyways?

    Wouldn't it be better to keep your mouth shut, plead guilty, save yourself potentially a $mill+ on mounting a defense and wait for a pardon to come down before you even walk into a prison?

    A pardon would wipe the conviction clean off your record. If they rat Trump out they both still end up convicted felons and could still do time. Keep quiet, get pardoned and it's like they were never convicted at all.

      The state where it happened could then go after them. Trump can't pardon those crimes.

      “Dual sovereignty” allows a state (or multiple states) to prosecute people for the same crimes as the federal government.

              In addition to what others have said in regards to the state going after him, there is also no guarantee that Trump would pardon them. If Trump thought pardoning them would hurt him, there is a good chance he wouldn't do it.

              Would you put your freedom in Trump's hands?

                      Please also be aware that if you were to be granted a presidential pardon, the pardoned offense would not be removed from your criminal record. Instead, both the federal conviction as well as the pardon would both appear on your record.

                          A presidential pardon, particularly a pre-emptive pardon like the one Ford gave to Nixon, which would prevent future prosecution, would have the same effect.                                                   When it comes to how liberals will see this, it is the same for both parties. Even if Mueller announces that he has nothing concrete on Trump and he is no longer under investigation, most liberals will assume he did it and just got away with it. On the other side of that coin, even if Mueller comes out with solid proof that Trump either colluded with Russia or obstructed justice during the investigation, many conservatives will still believe he is innocent being unfairly attacked by liberals.
