The gorilla was trying to protect the child, but it could have easily have killed him. No easy decision under the circumstance. Parents should be held responsible. This was a real life King Kong situation. Breathed cartoon captures the dharma of it perfectly.

Should make the kid's "father" live in the cage for the next 6 months.

Doubt anyone would be able to tell any difference really.

Human life is sadly in times more important than a beautiful gorilla's life. If you're a parent you'll understand that kids are unpredictable and the unknown will happen. Who knows about the parents. If they have too many kids like a lot of them do and can't keep track of them--then they should stop breeding. As far as we know he gorilla could have been in his mind playing around or trying in his way to keep the kid safe. Who knows. Parents to face neglect charges? I wasn't there on scene to see. Regardless of their criminal past, shit just happens.

100k gorillas vs 7 billion humans

If this was a game you'd have to trade 70,000 humans to get one gorilla.

              :thumbs up

His wrap record for kidnapping, burglary, etc. shows he deserves that treat.

Gotta love the "he was protecting the kid" comments; so many experts on so many things around here.

Anyway, some sad news to report. I apologize if you already heard ... https://aboveaverage.com/disaster-ha...animal-heaven/

Go quaff another brew sudsy. What makes you an expert on everyone else's expertise?

The way the gorilla held and placed the child is just like how you see them protect their own in every single documentary that has ever been on Animal Planet, NG, etc.. If the gorilla wanted to kill the kid it would've been over in an instant, like most times when people fall into cages with dangerous animals. Every animal behavior expert on the planet has weighed in on that being apparent in the footage. Gorillas are also known to sacrifice their kids too, kill rivals kids, etc. so the danger was real that the kid could've been killed.

Now wipe the suds off your upper lip and order yourself another before last call. Your uber will be here shortly.

Yeah, because they always drag them around by their feet through the water.

                        Go take another hit.

Anyone notice how calm the mother is calling out to her child as he's dragged by the gorilla? Anyone hear her 911 call recording? She was totally calm with a slight faked panic at the end, so much so the 911 operator seems in disbelief.

I don't know all the circumstances leading up to this, but I know children at that age can just take off without warning. Unfortunately, things like this happen, like kids running out in the street and getting hit by a car. Accidents happen all the time and most of them could have been prevented with hind sight. So to all the perfect people out there, congratulations on your perfection, but for the honest people out there, thank god the accidents your children had, did not cost them their lives or make headlines so you could be publicly reprimanded and humiliated for maybe turning to your spouse for just a minute to have a conversation, or maybe chasing one child and another runs off. Shit that happens on public outings ALL THE TIME. Things that happen to GOOD PARENTS.

Gorilla wouldn't have done anything because it realized a defenceless child poses no threat to it.
