Got a new Digital Camera

I went out today and get the new Canon 10d digital camera. As I was using a Canon EOS all the lenses fit. Damn that thing is one piece of great hardware. The quality of the photos is simply amazing. I guess thats what 6.3 megapixel do for you. The price compared to the older model D60 has gotten into a very affordable range. I simply love that camera already after playing around with it for only 5 hours

Only if your printing out 8 x10's on paper. For the web the 3 something megapixil D-30 will do just as well. The lens and lighting is what matters the most.

But heck ya you picked a nice camera and should be very happy with it.

Cheers,
BV

I'm wondering if it buffers faster then the d30? That might be one incentive to get a bigger (more expensive) camera. I was using the Olympus e10 and e20 for awhile. Great fucking cameras but they write too slow for me. I have switched to the Nikon 100d and don't have that problem anymore.

Also, did that camera replace the d60?

Actually the d-30 buffers fast as hell, 3 shots per second at full resolution and 6 shots per sec at half resolution. I would think the d-60 and the newer might even shoot slower at full res because you are writing twice the data at full resolution. So in esence it would even have to write twice as fast in order to shoot at the same speed as the d-30. Ya know? more data = more time to write to cf or micro drive. Definately would need the higher speed cf cards as well and more of them to hold the larger files. In my opinion unless you are planning to print these out on paper your going to spend extra money on the camera and extra and faster media all for nothing.

have u ever used a D1H or D1X ? im looking at getting a D1X with the upgrade so that i can shoot some sports stuff, as well as capture perfect cumshots. the D1H shoots 5 fps for up to 8 sec, while the D1X only does 3 for 9... but with the upgrade, is supposedly just as fast...

how fast is the d100?

Yes it did replace the D60. The autofocus was kind of slow on the D60 and now its a 7 field ultra fast one on the 10d.

It shoots 3 pics a second for 3 seconds and 1 pic a second after that. I put a 1 GB microdrive into it and it writes very fast. In full automatic use you can only save in jpg in 3 different sizes and 2 compressions each size. The highest is 3072 x 2048 with a file size of 2.4 MB. In the creative programs you can also save canon raw data. The raw data is nifty. It is smaller than tiff and basically the data the image processor uses. If you use this format you have to use the canon driver to work with it afterwards. This is very cool because basically you take a picture and afterwards you decide with what setting you want to take this photo.

I was thinking of getting a used D30 or D60 but the price of the 10d is crazy low. A used D30 is about 300 dollar cheaper and a used D60 actually is more expensive than the 10d. A no brainer to get the new one.
