    My local weed shop is going out of its way with customer service

    I don't smoke a lot, but when I do there are a couple of strains I like. The local store doesn't always have them. I asked them to call me if they get any in stock. Today they called me and said they just got a fresh batch of Mango Kush in. When I told them I would head over later today to get some they offered to deliver it to me. 20 minutes later one of their people was at my door with some fresh weed. When I offered her a tip she refused it and said they were happy to serve their customers.

    This is how you win long term repeat customers.

              It is a crazy time we are living in. In some parts of the company a person selling weed could get caught and end up in prison for years. This person showed up driving a car that was branded with the weed shop's name on it and everything is perfectly legal.

                          Impressive. Things are getting better. My experience with dispensaries is they are all pretty much run by street dope dealers who rented a storefront. Very few understand loyalty programs or acting professionally. The knuckleheads at the dispensary I currently frequent call all the customers "boss", in a hoodrat way. Low brow. They do carry good weed though.

                          Recreational weed did make it on the upcoming ballot here in Cali. Competition is needed and professional business people.

                                  I am curious, can everybody start a shop? And how do you get the weed, are you allowed to grow? In Holland coffeeshops are not allowed to deliver or make any promotion, you may not even have a website in some cities cause they see it as marketing.

                                                              Here in California we are rapidly moving toward legal recreational use of weed (only medical use is permitted now). The state is planning to start issuing commercial growing licenses, I believe starting in 2018. In one sense, pretty much anyone can open a dispensary, but the one we use has an armed security guard at the door and very tight security inside, including a huge amount of CYA paperwork for new patients. I don't think it's an especially easy business to start or one that everyone would be comfortable running. The legal aspects are still a bit sketchy, as marijuana is considered a Schedule 1 substance by the U.S. government, meaning it has "no currently accepted medical use."

                                                              Nobody I've talked to seems to know exactly what the legal status of commercial growing is in CA. I've had in-depth conversations with the owner of our local dispensary...interestingly, you can get a permit to grow 99 plants (the medical limit is 12 plants/patient), but most people I've talked to say the higher limit may or may not be honored by law enforcement. The city of Desert Hot Springs (near Palm Springs) just become the first city in Southern California to allow large-scale commercial growing, and their land prices have already tripled in value even though they're not quite sure how they'll supply enough electricity or water for the businesses to operate.

                                                              It was also just announced that California will be voting to legalize the recreational use of marijuana this November, a measure supported by the lieutenant governor. Very interesting times in California right now.

                                                                          My understanding is that in Colorado there are the same number of DUIs as there were before, but a larger percentage than before are pot related. To me it seems like those people that drive while high may be the same people who would have driven while drunk before pot was legal.

                                                                              I don't know about other states, but in Oregon you need to apply for a permit and have it approved to open a shop. It must not be too hard to get because the shops are starting to pop up everywhere.

                                                                              As for growing. You can legally grow a certain amount for yourself (I think it is a total of 6 plants), but you need to apply to be an approved grower if you want to do a big grow that you sell to a store.

                                                                                      The ones I have been in here are pretty professional. There is one that I went to before the local store opened up that has kind of a hippie vibe. They were laid back, but professional and knew their weed.

                                                                                      My local shop looks like you are walking into a doctor's office. It is clean and well taken care of and the people there are very nice and professional. Some of the customers might be a little shady , but the people working there are good.
