In an ideal world Stanton, the logical thought would be we could all self govern ourselves and live peacefully.

However, it all begins in the sandbox. Go to a playground anywhere in the world, with any race of little children. Spend an hour watching the interactions amonst the little ones whose minds haven't been tarnished or influenced yet by the world, and regardless you will see a natural power structure form and conflicts begin.

One kid will inherently begin to dominate the sandbox and become the tough guy everyone else has to deal with. Most of the other kids will whimp out and get out of the sandbox or yield to the power kids "this is mine" attitude and just accept their small section. Sometimes one kid will challenge the power kid alone, sometimes he'll gather and inspire other weaker kids to form a coalition to take out the big kid in the box. If they succeed that kid will be the new leader.

Some kids will throw sand in another kids face just for the fun of it. (LOL kind of like many of the GFY anti-american types in here.) Then you see kids getting into fights over their place in the sandbox. Some kids will fight just to impress the other kids how strong they are. Most kids don't want to be the box leader and want someone else to govern the box.

Thus its the inherent territorial, possesive and aggressive nature of man that causes the need for government.

Unfortunately, the people in charge of the governments, are often no different than the kids in the sandbox. They seek power and control of their individual sandboxes and those of others.

This is the world we live in, and if it wasn't a cast of characters named Bush and Saddam, it would be someone else, but there will always be a cast of characters to deal with.

I see nothing in the horizon changing this. Man is man, and he is a fucked up creature no different than a bunch of kids in a sandbox.

Very sensible post and true. I have always said that the world will always be fucked up as long as the most dangerous predatory animal known in the history of time remains on the earth and that animal of course is known as homosapien.
