It's very wrong in many ways to compare 3D and VR.
You just have to try both instead of just speculating on 3DComment

I'm going to quote Jay Allan from another forum on the subject of VR and porn:
"I doubt there is a single director in adult who is any more tech savvy (or geeky) than I am. My 4k tv is at least 10 years old now. My game setup has Atmos sound. I shoot from drones. I also shoot most of my films in 4k 2.40 aspect ratio. I use half a dozen different types of cameras and shoot on computer controlled stabilization platforms. We upgrade constantly because I can utilize the new technology that in most cases it has real world practical solutions. I was one of the very first directors to shoot DSLR style and as far as I know the first director in adult to shoot with anamorphic lenses. So I do know what I am talking about.
All that being said, why would I want to have to look at a tiny girl in a distorted fishbowl just so I can look around her apartment? Just Google “VR PORN” and tell me what you see. You think that is the future of porn? It is not. It is a half measure. VR is itself a very viable tech and will make billions. But like I said above, IN THE PORN CONTEXT it is CURRENTLY for curious people who have heard about VR porn and want to check it out. In other words porn VR is a gimmick. Real VR (not cartoons or distorted 180 degree fisheyes) requires too much processing power and bandwidth for current infrastructure. That is why for a while successful commercial products utilizing VR will be video games were a complete CG environment is expected. "-Robbie

I thought VR porn was going to be the Next Big Thing, but from what I've seen so far I'm completely underwhelmed. Maybe the producers jumping into shooting VR so far have had more money than talent, but everything I've seen hasn't looked any better than, say, an average low-to-mid budget POV scene--which kinda makes sense: when you're spending a ton of money on equipment and post, you have less to spend on production.I'm going to quote Jay Allan from another forum on the subject of VR and porn:

After HD was introduced in the mid aughts, it took a while for directors to figure out how to shoot for it's enhanced capabilities and different aspect ratio, and it may just be that it'll take people a while to figure out VR. Or, it may be that VR porn--like the unlamented 3D porn before it--is, as Jay concludes, just a gimmick.Comment

So far it's just a gimmick with porn because it's just panoramic videos that are panned by head movement. It gets much better than that, the hardware and bandwidth just isn't quite there yet.....I thought VR porn was going to be the Next Big Thing, but from what I've seen so far I'm completely underwhelmed. I have no doubt it will catch on at some point. But the question I ask myself is whether or not porn will be the catalyst for VR headset sales. My guess is the gaming industry, not porn, will be the industry that forwards VR technology.
Gamers who already have a headset might check some of the porn out. But I honestly cannot see people spending a bunch of money on a headset for porn specifically. VR needs a multitude of content producers across a wide variety of niches in order for it become commonplace. Frankly, I cannot imagine a bunch of people getting together in a room, wearing headsets, to watch the Superbowl, for example.
Most intriguing to me, however, is ROI. VR is not exactly cheap to produce. And every day we hear people lamenting the downturn in porn site memberships. Behind closed doors, there's certainly more than one company who has told me that sales are difficult to get these days. With the cost of VR porn production, I wonder if there will be enough people who will actually buy a VR headset and spend money on porn to return a positive ROI on the production.
Time will tell.
Personally, VR gives me an awful headache after a few minutes of using the headset, so for me it holds very little interest beyond the novelty of it. One can/would assume the tech will only get better, and more affordable.NSFWComment

As an affiliate what is the quickest, easiest and most profitable way to get into this niche.
Ideally not porn unless it pays well.
