If he was a nurse, he would have been sacked, as (I was a student nurse) your not alowed to do anything even in your private life that can bring shame on nursing.

Most academic institutions have a code of ethics they strictly follow. I believe he resigned before he was forced out - potentially hurting his retirement benefits. The university felt he did not honor the code of ethics, and brought shame to the institution.

I think the better question is why did he quit porn? Over 20 years as a professor, he's got a pretty good pension coming his way, but it's great supplemental income banging hot chicks on camera.
