My Favorite Memories of America
We had gone on a trip to New York...A couple of 20 year olds from Canada.
We went to a Yankee Game in the Bronx. I remember "getting lost" from my group of friends at the time at the front of the stadium about 2 hours before the game. In reality, I took off so I could walk around by myself. Who knows if it was dangerous or not and I probably stuck out like a sore thumb but just walking around was so exciting and fun and exhilarating. I remember sitting in a weird storefront bar and eating a potato knish. i remember the feeling of trying to act cool and not like a tourist (yah right). I remember it was 100% sheer adrenalin and every single breath I took and every thing my eyes were looking at were sure to be memories forever burned on my psyche. It inspired me to take another trip to the east coast, this time by myself, and I remember arriving at Fenway Park an hour before a Blue Jays game and I asked for the best single ticket. It was three rows behind home plate. I ate Fried Dough, talked with Ed Sprague and Paul Molitor (Blue Jay players), and will always remember the distinctive Boston twang of "Cracker Jack" from the old timers selling candy and snacks. These are memories nobody can take away from me. But will I ever get to experience things like this again? I want to, but will it ever happen? I am unsure. America stands for something for everybody. What is it to you?
