2)There were Republican guards dressed as civilians who were supposedly surrendering to American troops.
3)It appears TEN (10..not 10,000) American troops were then killed by these suicide bombings.

These are isolated skirmishes, not even worthy of being called a battle and have zero effect on the campaign. The goals of the campaign are ahead of schedule and will come to fruition when our main forces surround Baghdad.

There were three primary goals to this campaign.

#1 To take control of the ports in Southern Iraq.

#2 To secure the Southern and Northern oil fields to keep them from being blown, for multiple reasons.

#3 To drive to Baghdad (by passing smaller cities and smaller Iraqi forces) surround it and isolate it.

All three of these goals are being achieved. No one, but no one, with a brain thought that there would not be some pockets of resistence. The outcome of the campaign is known and is inevitable.

#1 There is more resistance than most people here suspected and there is definately more than "small pockets of resistance".
#2 They thought they had control of the ports and cities several times only to be engaged.

You are confusing secure with control. They have control, is everything completely secure, no. Even when the whole country is under US control, will it be entirely secure, no. There are only small pockets of resistance, but you are entitled to classify small pockets of resistance anyway you choose. Anyone familiar with war certainly knew there would be some resistance, only the ignorant did not.
