He's a bit of a Rhonda Rousey type situation where the hype has well passed the reality. Pissing Aldo off and getting into his head and catching him as he charged forward with a punch in a few seconds doesn't make him the best in the world. Beating Mendes who took the fight on short notice and gassed himself out while beating the shit out of McGreggor, doesn't make McGreggor better than Mendes. He's done very well as a mediocre fighter in branding himself and drawing pay per view numbers and ticket sales. But he's unproven as a top tier champion by any measure.

Mendes in particular showed how incredibly weak his ground game was and he was absolutely 100% helpless under him. Chad gassed himself out, taking a fight on short notice, but otherwise took him down at well and ground it out with no answer from McGreggor. Lucky for him, Diaz will try to box. On a side note, probably the biggest paycheck Diaz will ever earn in his life. He's extremely fortunate to get that fight.

Rousey was great for the UFC's numbers. Conor is much better and making much more. I see him sticking around and pulling the same crap every single fight. The last bunch of trash talk was awesome and even though i don't like McGreggor much, that line on CNBC

and everything else was pretty funny. I kinda like him for that reason. He is over hyped as a fighter, he's nothing special really and will have to really pull it together and stop with the hands down, punching from the waist, wheel kicks etc.. but as a showman, he's doing great and its paid off for him in a huge way.

Diaz said it best "i've got 25 fights in the UFC and i am still wondering when its going to pay off".... that in itself tells you what a McGreggor is worth, vs a Diaz. It has little to do with a record and skill, for sure and a whole lot to do with who can fill seats. A terminally stoned trailer trash gangbanger who doesn't care about anyone or anything, can't make people want to watch fights and can't sell tickets.
