Three criticised over plans for network-wide ad-blockers - BBC News

The Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) said blocking ads could lead to consumers "having to pay for content they currently get for free".

Three said the ad-blocker it is planning to use can block 95% of banner and pop-up ads.
The service will roll out "this year" but may not be free to use.

The mobile phone provider said its 8.8 million customers would be able to choose whether to activate the service, and Three told the BBC that it had not decided whether to charge a fee for it.


I know there are some solutions out there, but can't they see how short sighted this?...

I have a couple of Chrome Apps that I have made 2 versions of - One you have to pay for and anyone with an AdBlocker gets refereed to it if they download the free version.....

And why is paying for what you consume, so bad? Maybe if the ad s[ace were free, they would think differently.

Only if everyone has ads blocked - They will just carry on with what they have left as they do now - The way things are we all suffer...

Even if only 10% see ads there will be someone giving it all away for free.....
