China Box Office Breaks World Record With $548M in One Week

The record seven-day haul is more than the Chinese box office generated for the entire year a decade ago.

China's movie box office just smashed the world's seven-day sales record for a single territory, racking up an astonishing $548 million in ticket sales over the Chinese New Year's holiday period, plus Valentine's Day on Sunday.

The record gross crushes the prior record set by North America six weeks ago, when Star Wars: The Force Awakens lifted the territory to $529.6 million from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1.

The record one-week haul also is considerably more than the Chinese box office generated for the entire year just one decade ago. In 2006, China's total box office was approximately $327.5 million.

Be nice to tap into that

China has disposable income but the government forbids porn and the adult industry from participating in consumer spending. So for now, China is a useless market to me.

However, we do have a few Chinese that are heavy spenders using methods to disguise their activities from the PRC's porn police -- the demand is there -- and so is the money.

Also, I would like 500 Chinese models -- some Chinese girls are hotties -- Free Trade! Fuck Yeah!

Well, they are developing a consumer consumption society -- strange form of fascist-capitalism?

So, yeah I cannot wait to by my next US made smartphone for $700.00
          Actually, I bought a new Lenovo Tab 2 10" yesterday for $170 +tax.
When I compare this to the cost of a US made computer in 1984 ... and what the computer power is along with the convince and size got for my money ... go China!

Aside: Amazon is now charging me my 6% state sales tax, which is fine I as I don't have to declare and pay 'use tax' to the state now.

So, why doesnâ??t China make porn and gambling legal within (inside) their country on the internet and tax it? They need to put a second fish-head in the rice bowl. We would establish a Chinese entity (maybe) if we could sell cams in China and export the 'talent' globally.

Paul, you have to think globally today to survive in business
