I was always on the fence about VR and just assumed it was a gimmick that would fade away. But I recently got one of those Quest 2's and WOW, color me a convert! The 3D VR experience is MUCH more intense that I thought it would be. And you can also use the headset to watch 2D porn. This really could be a game changer if the Quest 2 becomes a hot seller this holiday season. As someone else said, if VR doesn't finally explode because of the Quest 2 it probably never will.Comment

i am starting to dev for the quest2, but i'm not all that impressed with the experience. the goggles are annoying to me, and AR doesn't work in the dark. for me, a mobile or tablet is a great porn device.
just an opinion. i can see the merits and demand, which is why its on my schedule..

This is a bit misleading. The "Metaverse" was always something different to "VR", and especially of course VR porn, which this thread was about.
They are shifting resources to AI and AI/AR/Smart glasses because those glasses are shipping like hot cakes. And guess what you can do with them? Watch movies (and porn) on big virtual screens just like in VR, including with realtime 3D conversion. Or soon, walk around 3D "holographic" girls.
In any case, VR porn is as popular as it has been for the last 5 years and more. I know of not one single major VR porn studio that has closed, and new ones are still appearing. The roadblock for VR has always been the bulky headsets, but the rapid development of smart glasses will mean that VR headsets will soon merge with the glasses.

And your reading skills have also not improved - back then you confused it with 3D, now you are confusing Zuckerbergs "Metaverse platform" with VR in general.

As someone actually running a brand new VR porn platform that launched in October 2025, I can tell you VR adult content is definitely **not** dead.
We’re seeing steady growth month over month — especially with 8K/12K content + proper haptics and interactive features. The headset hardware is finally good enough and prices are coming down, so the audience is expanding beyond the early adopters.
Meta fucking up the metaverse doesn’t mean VR porn is over. The porn side has always been one of the strongest use cases and it’s still growing. New studios and platforms are still popping up because the demand is real.Comment
