No DRM - the files are basically just ordinary mp4 videos.

but like I said on Skype yesterday: you need a really high bitrate (20 mbit/s and up) for a satisfying experience - which pretty much rules out tubes already (because I think that bandwidth and storage costs will not make it profitable).

I was thinking more of torrents and peer to peer stuff. It won't be able to be produced at the same rate as non-VR stuff, so all of your content being available will happen eventually. and the tubes will catch up at some point. Years, but at some point. I wonder if there will be an option at some point.

360 doesn't really make sense unless for orgy scenes or scenes in which at least several girls are present. Or until such time as the vr headset wearer can 'move around' the porn studio. That will be achievable in digital environments, but I guess it will have to wait for the vr tech to improve and for people to figure out how to record it for it to happen with real porn scenes. I am interested in how vr porn for the HTC Vive will differ, if at all, from the content being produced for the Oculus and Gear. Theoretically I suppose it could allow for viewer movement, but I think it will have to wait for the next generation of light field tech for it to really be possible.

As for the piracy issue, all the vr porn sites should get together and do whatever it takes to stamp out content theft before it has a chance of establishing itself. Anyway, the future of vr porn will be live cam chat. Most people who have tried porn in vr, even with the cardboard goggles, agree it's pretty amazingly 'real' and intimate. I can imagine live chat in vr is going to be on another level. I read AliceX.com are planning to charge close to $10 a minute for live vr chat with their models. 3D TVs and 3D entertainment in general failed, but 3D porn wasn't a complete failure at all. Last I checked Penthouse 3D had made millions of dollars in sales and are still shooting in 3D. 3D TVs were bought mainly by families for the lounge. Dads dont want to fap off to porn wearing glasses in the family lounge. Yet anaglyph porn wearing those crappy glasses for laptops was highly popular, especially given how crude anaglyph is compared to 3D TV.

well - who else besides Penthouse is doing 3D? Did they really make millions on it? Is anyone using his 3D TV at home? I have tried mine once about 4 years ago and everybody I ask says the same - no one is watching 3D at home. Even when they live alone.

And for me the HUGE difference is: With VR I have clients that are willing to invest in production - with 3D the willingness to spend extra on production was zero. Besides Penthouse - I could tell you some really funny (or sad) story about that.

So we didn't even start 3D production back then because no one wanted to pay extra for it.

I know I am not a cam specialist but I still would like to disagree.

whenever i look at cam sites, i see very often that girls are very close to the camera and you only see parts of her body.

Ok I checked samsung gear VR... that's cool if you're near big animals like a dinosaur or mega whale fishes, or in a circus looking up guys jumping. It follows your head quick, you are in the environment definitely. Regarding single woman of woman size, sure it feels more real than plain 2d, especially when something is moving in your direction (like, she slaps you in face lol), but I feel the 3d more with big objects or many small flying around up down etc., than a single person in front there.
Device became too hot to operate (screamed "please I need to cool down") and consumed 40% battery in 30 minutes while testing 3d demos, I suppose with videos it lasts longer.

For those still following this,
I can say that every smartphone will only get better. We are seeing screen sizes and resolutions that should enable 100 degree and better field of views and GPU's to drive high end phones starting with the Samsung s8 but we could see something in the next NOTE release this year.
As production techniques get better, this is only driving great experiences and fast.

I'm waiting for the first cam tube site with 360 cams and MTO content.
While it is not my 'thing', I can clearly see it being the choice for many.

As will peer 2 peer VR.

One of the problems with 360° is the quality. You're using the same resolutions for an even larger area.
4K in regular porn is super sharp, 4K for VR comes out just okay, since it's not the actual resolution that your eye will see. With 360° it's even worse. And you cannot raise the resolution further, because today's devices won't be able to play the files then.

It's not really worth it to waste the resolution for stuff that's going on behind your back, I don't think people generally want to spin 360° while watching porn either.
