PageRank (the heart of Google ranking algorithm) and Toolbar Page Rank (the 1-0 PR number which was a logarithmic scale of the actual accumulated PageRank to a page) are not the same thing. Google announced long ago that it would stop updating the toolbar PR..

PR is dead, don't worry about it. It's just that a few things that are similar DO still help with SEO (getting backlinks, preferably one way from a good source) and might confuse people into believing that PR is still relevant, but there are other things that you have to do on top of it to make it work (Contextual, social or not, link relevancy, etc.)
