I would suggest that it might be a good idea ( call me old fashioned ) for the Commander in Chief to convene regular meetings of all the people who would be able to turn him into one of the most well informed individuals on the planet.

The media only starting reporting it after they discovered it, which was a week or so later, because the police deliberately kept quiet about it - censorship to shield the country from reality. After that of course the story blew up and we all know about it.
