No it didn't, Overture doesn't report the numbers for plural words, only singular. Those numbers are for big boobs.

Your domain is worthless you fucking fool, quit posting this shit.

I haven't found that to be very accurate, though. I own domains with anywhere from a few dozen to 500 results at Overture that don't perform as expected but I own others with 0 results there that get handfuls of typeins.

You were the person who first told me about that trick. Previously, I had used my own little formulae about the number of searches, words in a domain, etc, to get an idea of typein value. Maybe I am just missing something.

Overture wasnt meant to be used to predict typeins, its just a tool that shows how often people are typeing the domain name in Overture.

You often get inaccurate results, and the best tool is common sense. If it doesnt look like a name that would get many typeins, it probably wont.

Obviously, if "sd-1-oifu.com" showed a bunch of results, I would be suspicious. Still, I've had a few that seemed reasonable amount to nothing even with Overture results.

Another weird thing I have noticed is results completely disappearing after a month or two. I bought two domains (the singular and the plural) with the word "dick" in them because I had a use for them. Only after making the purchases did I check Overture and find that the singular had something like 491 searches and the plural had around 499. That surprised me so I just put a counter up on the pages instead of using them for what I originally had in mind. I got a small handful of typeins but nothing to write home about. Then, after a month or so, both domains were showing no results at all in Overture. It's no big deal since I hadn't purchased them for typein value, anyway, but the disappearence from Overture was a little weird.

What do you consider high? I am a domain hog and I always end up buying more domains than I need, some with fair Overture showings.

I've had a few with ~1,000 showings for "domain.com" searches. The thing is, some of them have pulled disappearing acts like I mentioned above. I'd have to run my Overture result checking script on all the domains, but I know of at least 8-9 that had a total of around 5,000 searches that are all showing no results, now.

disappearing acts on overture are more common now than ever before. Especially over the last 2 months.

there has also been a flip side to this, certain domains get a huge inflated #s and than drop off way down the next month.

point of all this, you cant substitute common sense with a search tool

Like I said, I don't trust the Overture results, alone. In fact, they have almost no bearing on my purchase decisions. The only time they really come into play is if I am trying to choose one or two out of a handful of possibilities. If one has considerably better Overture results than another, I am more likely to go with it. I am not really in the typein business, it's just incidental to all the domains I buy.

I doubt there's very many (if any at all) triple-digit+ typein domains left just floating around out there. You have to buy them from the owners or snatch them out from under people who let them expire. This new waiting period is going to put some brakes on that though.

Edit: I mean in adult domains. I only rarely dip into mainstream stuff, like internetautomobiles.com which I picked up not long ago.

To start with, Overture only shows results that get over 25 hits. That means lots of good names will show "0". Overture is right most of the time, but not all of the time. It should only be used as a back up to common sense.

If you find a name with good Overture numbers, see if many people are looking for it on Google and other places. See if they are looking for the term combined and apart (college girls + collegegirls).

If it shows good numbers on Overture, but noone is looking for the term anywhere else, thats a good indication Overture is haywire.

Overture is the best tool there is to find typeins, but again, if it doesnt LOOK like a good typein name, it probably isnt.

I actually do precisely that. Especially with domains that I really wanted for something but the project fell through. Then I gather the information about them and let them sit up on Afternic with (sometimes ridiculously inflated) prices hoping someone who wants it bad enough will bite before it expires
