In fact, US oil production has been exploding in the past 10 years.

The United States no longer needs to buy oil from the Middle East. We could cut them loose and say "fuck it".

The Middle East is a cluster fuck. They sold their oil to the infidels, cashed our checks, and instead of investing it into their future a handful of people got really really rich and blew it. Now it's all going to come crashing down. The Middle Eastern countries who sold us their oil will no longer be needed by the West. It's gonna suck for them - No money for their governments, and no one will care.

None of the civilised world should be aligned with Saudi Arabia, there's no strategic, economic or tactical reason to be supporting that regime any longer.
