Help! Need to change about 10,000 link codes!

Hi, Is there a proggy that will speed up changing 3 months worth of gallery link codes?

I sure hope there is, or its gonna be a long ass weekend!

Lemme guess...removing those CFF codes?

You can use a grep script to do it on your Linux box.

get "Advanced find and replace"
http://www.vknoware.com/afr/
I use it when I need to change 1000s of linkcodes.

Works all the time, everytime. You can search and replace a whole harddrive with this utlility, directories, files etc. Hope it is what you are looking for.

Homesite has an advanced replace function that will do it for all files in a directory including subdirectories without opening the files. You can even do infinitely complicated replacements with "regular expressions" if you are familiar with them. Very handy, and it sounds like it will do the trick for you.

The only program that I use: http://www.textpad.com
A global replace on a ton of documents is only one thing that it does. It's like notepad on super illegal, bought-in-Tiajuana-because-they're-illegal-in-the-US steroids.

What about a program that'll rip through files on a server making global changes. For example, if I wanted to change the pricing of my sets, there are like 55,000 files scattered across many directories to be changed. Can't conveniently be done by hand.

That shit should be scripted. Hardcoding anything that you might have to change in this day and age is pretty stupid.

If you are doing it server side:

find . -name '*.html' -exec perl -i -pe 's!string to change!what to change it to!g' {} \;

you would obviously change: string to change to the string you need to change and the bit saying what to change it to would change to what you are wanting there instead.

Then just run it in the root htdocs folder.

Yep Dreamweaver MX will handle that in no time, its the best search and replace software i've used, and its just a small part of the best webdesign software on the market.

If you don't have it or can't get it, then find some other search and replace software on www.download.com

Heya, I may. I am a paysite guy since day 1. I wouldn't know TGP if it slapped me upside the head. On the other hand, you make catchy galleries and maybe down the road we can do some biz. I want to try out TGP some day....

If you're willing to spend a couple of bucks OT has a server based search and replace. http://www.otscripts.com

That way you can do it on the server instead of doing it locally and THEN having to re-upload everything.
