News Jackson, MS Councilman says' Let's throw rocks at police'

A quick aside from my campaign to assist AaronM in his quest for the HoF. The opinions expressed below are completely my own.

One of the council members for Jackson Mississippi has suggested that people throw rocks and bottles at police pursuing criminals into their neighborhoods.

My feeling is that if that is the way they want it, that we establish "no go" areas where police and other city and emergency services won't go. Establish solid perimeters and checkpoints so people can't run out of a no-go area, commit a crime and run back.

It is crazy idea, but if those neighborhoods don't want police, why try and serve them?

Comments on this insanity? Suggestions on solutions?

Right now I fear the police much more than criminals. Criminals are single minded and don't bother you if you are not their target. The police target everybody.

I think that if you start throwing rocks at the police, you probably deserve whatever it is that they throw back at you.

There should be "police-free zones" for people who hate or distrust the police

It should be very interesting how such well-intentioned places pan out

City councillors don't always speak on behalf of the majority of constituents that elect them. I'll bet his comments only reflect either his own personal views...or a few outspoken residents - not the majority.

And if I were a tax-paying property owner in that councillor's district, I'd be blowin' up his phone with my opinion of assinine his comments were.
