Hot or Not Excellent Advice On How To Become Rich

Some excellent advice from famous and very successful investor Doug Casey. This guy is worth over a hundred million (probably plural) and has a habit of sharing some excellent advice on how to get there. Anytime a guy like this hands out advice for free, you just have to listen.

The video keys on his status as "International Man" and with a focus on the importance of getting education through travelling the world and "not being a plant" as he calls it. It also raises an excellent point which is that western people have a disproportionately big advantage in doing business abroad in countries where their English, Skills and Intelligence puts them above most of the local population.

He's keen to emphasise stepping out of the comfort zone to find opportunity. RandyRandy probably could tell you a thing or two about that and he's just one of many people who are doing exactly what Doug Casey prescribes.

Happy new year and I hope this advice will be useful to some of you or at least give you food for some thought about how to propel yourself to a higher level. It's still not to late to amend your new years resolution.

Too long to spend an hour watching something that might make the world of difference and positive impact on your entire life?

This is basically the reason why so many people fail in life. They want success but they're never prepared to do even a fraction of what it takes.

Indeed...there is no substitute for the knowledge gained from international travel. I have been to 25 countries and lived outside of my home country (USA) for long term in 3 different countries for a total of 8 years.

If you want to see how things really work then it is crucial that you get out of the bubble you live in and see the world and other realities. You will see that your reality is just one of countless scenarios.

Amen. People in the US always think the US is NUMBER ONE NUMBER ONE NUMBER ONE!!!! (And it IS, of course.) But these same people are amazed there are other (equally) beautiful places to live in this world. Ever been to Holland or the south of France? Thailand? Brazil? Fucking Prague?

Most Americans think they've seen the pyramids because they spent a week in Las Vegas.

Definitely some good points but some negatives as well. Travel, working in other countries...no substitute for it. Thats great advice.
Some of what he's saying is a bit sociopath...but he is dead right about not becoming a "plant." That's a great analogy that explains many people.

                        Thank you for posting.

Well I've been to more than 200 cities in 50 countries and I've lived in 5 different countries but not everyone can do that easily with small amounts of capital. I'm wealthy but I'm also no spring chicken although I was when I joined GFY.

Casey is a legend but as for the Kreil video you posted. I started out thinking this was a pile of crap but passed the 40 minute mark, I've realized that this is "Excellent Advice" and I recommend people watch both videos even though they're long. I 100% agree with his advice, especially ditching the smartphone (I never owned one), understanding assets/liabilities, the sad people crossing the bridge, mainsteam media is useless and avoid it so don't allow yourself to be brainwashed. You can see why this guy is successful - he can think for himself.

The key thing about taking advice from successful people is that you NEED TO KNOW who to listen to and you need to know good advice when you hear it.

Singapore is Asia for rich people who've already made it - its not viable for most people. However, if you want to make it you need to head out to Asia and get hardcore in Asia main and if you can't afford it, start with cheap countries like SE asia and Vietnam or Thailand. Or do a Steve Jobs and get some spiritual awakening travelling all over India or even Africa (the new emerging market).

Travelling the world is not enough. Like the Casey guy, over the years when I hit a new city I talk to the taxi drivers, I talk to people in bars, make local friends, screw some chicks and really get into peoples brains and see what makes them tick. You have to BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS so get some balls and head out.

And the funny thing about the "sad people crossing the bridge" in Kreil's video is that they all think they're living the life. In reality they're just hamsters on a treadmill

                          and thanks for posting

I have friends who still think Asia and Africa is third world. Even India isn't third world and hasn't been for over a decade.

                              (And it IS, of course.)
In terms of GDP, Military, Accumulated Wealth and some other criteria, sure. However, China, Singapore and parts of the Middle East have better overall infrastructure than the UK, Germany or US but of course people only know what see on TV.
