    WMV files in members area

    Is it normal put movies this format.. If render is bad for my movies. What do you think?

      Stick to .mp4 or .flv to keep your mobile customers happy.

          WMV is not a format, but a filetype.

          Need more details to have a qualified guess why your render is bad.

          Is it slow, grany, Black frames or what?

              so you think better in 2 ways for usual desktop users wmv is ok and make special for mobile users, right?

                  You build one site, and make it Work with both mobile, tablet and desktop. And dont use flash

                      Why do both when you can just do one?

                      wmv is crap just like everything Microsoft. Stick to mp4 and make your life easier.

                          video become small to much I don't understand why.. one thing it's black frames, I'm sure.. second one mp4 full quality too small in program, if not use custom settings.

                                  If you have Black frames, 99% of the time its because your computer dont have enough rendering-power, or you are using wrong output settings.

                                  If you output it native or MPEG2, how does the quality look?

                                          Still have most of my movies in wmv.. Had to refund a customer the other day because they had a shitty ass chromebook that doesn't even support vlc so can't play the files

                                              sux but that is probably the best argument to go .mp4 - it's ultimately what the customer wants and I think most want mp4.

                                                  They do, it's true. What I offer in my 80+ Members Areas are these:

                                                  MP4
                                                  WMV
                                                  AVI
                                                  Quicktime

                                                  The older MAs have all four and the newer MAs have only MP4 and WMV. I also have a link to the free VLC Player in there along with instructions on how to download for each OS (Windows, Apple).

                                                  And guess what? I STILL get emails from Members asking how to download videos! LOL So I just email them the exact same instructions they can see on every video page and then they go, "Oh ok thank you!" LOL

                                                      No offense but take note man...having wmv files is no different than him having a chromebook both are antiquated... stick to mp4 for now consider mpeg dash when its more widely adopted

                                                          I use to offer .wmv for download and html5 to stream and it worked on every type of device you could think of

                                                          With the amount of people that only use tablets or phones for their internet nowadays you are crazy to not step up and offer html5 or something for mobile users

                                                                  I thought WMV pretty much ended with Win98.
                                                                  FLV will be a legacy format soon.
