They remain in what appears to be a "childlike" condition of innocence due to the typically lowered IQ function that most have (although the IQ of persons with this genetic condition can range from low to normal) so really broad statements like the world being a better place is really not true.
Evolution would have caused them to die out long ago if the entire population was like that so in retrospect I suppose that the world WOULD in fact be a better place as humans would not be in it.

I used to be a student nurse who worked with Downs Syndrome.
What you have done is presume everyone with Downs Syndrome is the same.
In fact there are a few who have committed crimes, including murder and rape.
People with Downs Syndrome can be found to have an increased chance of having mental illness as well.
People with Downs Syndrome also often suffer with health problems too.Comment

I was waiting for a dr appointment the other day this kid around 20 something he's always there on the same days my appointments are I overheard him talking to someone else about his Down Syndrome son and he said everytime he trys to correct him by spanking him it does nothing so he will beat him more and more to get the son to stop what he is doing, my mouth dropped.
Everyone in the room turned there head, I don't think it's right to spank a disabled child also obviously others don't either. It was reported to the proper people! The way he said it and the look on his face was fucked up! I don't think i was the only one about to smash this kid maybe next time..
