Business Do small niche paysites still do ok?

Took a break from adult and getting back in, of course its a whole new ballgame than years go.
I was just thinking of doing a mature site and filming some older ladies & grannies solo, real amateur. Filming about 20 videos and making into a site. Charge $9.99 or $14.99/month and add a new girl every 2 weeks.
Get accounts on all the tubes and sign them up as affiliates and just keep posting clips to the tubes.

Would this work today?

Content is still king. Much harder market but it'll still sell. You just need to police your content more.

Another route to consider is Clips4Sale for niche content and ManyVids for the teen/amateur. You can make a killing on there with the right content.

Not think that it work today.
20 movies it's not so much. Tube traffic works when you regularly uploaded the clips and you clips have a good quality and quantity.

Depends what you call "ok", I definitely agree that content is still key. If you have unique and nice content and you are actually putting some effort into it (marketing etc). You can make a decent income (low $0000,00 per week) We have many small business that only have 1 or 2 sites and are very successful with us

Our niche sites do ok. I think Traffic is king. With so much content, our sales would be higher with higher traffic.
We sell at about 1 sale per 1000.
Although, now, we're making all our sites clips available, with all our content available for $1 a clip

Sorry for the confusion: ONE site with SIX movies when we started and today still ONE site but 50 movies now.

We convert about 1% on a good day and about 0.5 on a shitty one. With about 2,000 uniques/day.

Our problem is shitty site with no SEO and no marketing... So it is all word of mouth...I need 10,000 good uniques/ day to think "retirement"

I think he means he converts 1% of his traffic, so out of 2000 visitors daily around 20 (1:100) actually buy a membership.

Yes they do but $9,99 a month it's too cheap. Except that you can get a big volume of sales a month. Try $19,95 a month.

I am not bragging and 100 K a year is about right. I have nothing to gain by bragging and I believe we should do 10 x better if I had a site with SEO, some marketing and without DRM "baggage" too complex to actually get the movie. I also do NOT run membership site, we sell "tangibles" ( downloads, streams and DVDs) of individual feature films. The customer buys/rents each movie separately. I will also confirm that the site is NOT yet profitable on its own, because of the cost of producing the movies. The reason we are still making them is because we have still strong ancillary cable TV, foreign video and now some VOD sales. The movies are all soft lesbian erotica.

And the reason I am not posting the site here for now is simple. I have a bunch of posts here looking for somebody to build a new site for me and have no desire for my current programmer to see ( even by accident) that I am trying to replace him....

I guess the assumption on my part was that you were running a typical membership site which is what most program owners are doing. There's no way anyone could have guessed this.
