Assuming that the wearing of a watch is to facilitate the telling of time. In my mind its more of a status symbol, a piece of male jewellery to peacock and display wealth to women...

The Swiss did like selling their watches on the basis of fine watch mechanisms. Not there are smart watches, they can't use that as a major selling point.

Yes apparently high end watches are experiencing a period of massive growth right now. 7 or 8 years ago they had a massive decline but thats not the case now.

Pretty sure this growth applies to all luxury items atm
