Because the unquoted part of your post has no sense for me. The Kachinski plane was not shot down. It was a victim of the accident. Not me, the Polish investigation said it. As about Turkey and the Netherlands, those are two different stories. The Netherlands is a victim of crazy rebels (that's the version I do believe in) while Turkey is a supporter of terrorists. And yes, the USA are not ready to lose millions of people for some European or Asian country. I do understand them and hope you do understand 'em as well.

NATO does not want peace. It never did. Shooting down a jet than you KNOW will not attack your territory, that you KNOW is there to fight somebody else, for a violation that is a few seconds long is a clear message. OH and their jet entered Syrian airspace but lets ignore this completely

Just one note about Afghanistan. I don't understand why do you guys think the goal was not achieved. The only reason of Soviet military campaign in Afghanistan was killing of Amin. His palace was stormed by Soviet Spetsnaz with support of GRU and VDV (in total 661 soldiers were involved) on 27th December of 1979.
