    There's a call to boycott Zoolander 2 over 'transphobic joke' made in trailer - BBC Newsbeat

    This is my favorite bit:

    That's the premise of the whole film - Every character is an 'over-the-top, cartoonish mockery' - That's why it is funny...

          The "funny" aspect of Zoolander is up to debate, but I agree with you that bashing every attempt to make some humour on any minority is much too common and is counter-productive.
