Clock kid is back in the news!

This time he wants $15m. This will surely quell the conspiracy theories that forced them to leave the country.

I don't have a clue how the American legal system works at all - do these huge compensation demands over brief events ever get paid out or are they just for headlines?

      It's a threat to sue. A ransom demand/shakedown. What a cocksucker family.

They "leaK" a big number in the news hoping it picks up traction. Once the news outlets report about the pending suit, counsel for the "victim", contacts opposing counsel for a settlement offer.

They tell the media they're going for $15M. They end up settling out of court, no media hoopla for around $5M. The attorney takes his 35% plus expenses, and the whole thing gets swept under the rug. It's media manipulation, employed to get desired results.

EDIT: Short answer, no, these big compensation demands are never paid at the actual amount.

Let's not forget that he didn't even build the clock. He took one apart and stuck it in a case. If I was his science teacher I would have failed him for that.

He is a muslim child who has a dark complexion. We should all be INSANELY impressed by him because of this. No matter what he does.

                      damn right.

this is nothing more than a weak extortion attempt. if they even thought they had a case, they'd file the suit, not threaten to file.

Most of the time these ridiculous money demands are an attempt to get them to settle with out going to court..

Easy payday for these kinds of idiots if the school board decides it's less risk to just pay out a million five or something like that..

This story just about sums up pretty much everything that's wrong with the utterly imbecile politically correct culture we've built and support.

An idiot "assembling" a stolen clock put into a djihad-like suitcase makes news since a responsible adult acted cautiously (and exactly as one should act in a situation like that).

Gets a full dose of political correctness all across the media, makes major headlines, even greeted in the White House as a "hero". Gets pulled back by his Qatar buddies, and ends up suing US for $ 15 M. An utter display of idiocracy at its finest, and a phenomenal White house success story.

The last thing that is missing is the ending, I guess it would be only appropriate if he got back to US and showed up with a real "clock", after all it would only be an adequate reaction for discriminating him out of $15 M he should have got for getting discriminated.

                            It is straight up extortion.

They claimed they were moving to Qatar because of all of the unwanted attention and ridicule here. Now they turn around, not even two months later, demanding massive amounts of money so that they can return to the horrible land that forced them away.

                            Fuck off.

I hope the city and the district both say a big fat fucking no. This sort of parasitic behavior needs to go.

Another example of him reacting to a PC frenzy local news issue and having it backfire.

The first thing you do when you get sued is call your lawyer/insurance company, assuming you have one or both. Then basically the insurance company takes over with their lawyer or "claims adjuster" and investigates and then determines whether to quickly settle, file a motion to dismiss or bury them in paperwork and drag it on, always hoping to settle. It's just a numbers game based on many factors like location of claim (liberal or conservative jury pool) and legitimacy of the claim.

But no, in general, those big numbers demanded are just pulled out of some ambulance chaser's ass and almost never paid.
