many people don't realise that the government can clean out your bank account when they want to.

I had a ticket a while ago, went into appeal etc. But the huge amounts of burocracy lost track of the order of appeals. Then i got a letter saying 'if you dont pay, we will take the amount off your bank account'.

Thats when i realized even if you are right, they still can just take your money when they want to. Freedom, right?

The list of affected taxpayers will be compiled by the Internal Revenue Service using a threshold of $50,000 of unpaid federal taxes, including penalties and interest, which would be adjusted for inflation.

If enacted in current form, the law would take effect on Jan. 1 and would apply to existing tax debts. According to estimates by the Joint Committee on Taxation, the measure is expected to raise $398 million over 10 years.

For those who think that this is a good idea... You realize that they can simply accuse you of owing the taxes, and then it's up to YOU to prove that you are innocent. . They will freeze your accounts when they do this, so you can't hire a lawyer. If this passes, then the irs will be able to accuse whomever they wish, freeze their accounts and then basically take away your citizenship. All based purely on the word of some little clerk at the IRS.

There will be no judicial review, and no due process. You don?t get to go in front of a judge first to have a fair and impartial hearing over whether or not the government?s tax allegations are accurate.

I don't get it, seems like common sense, why should the crime of tax evasion be treated any different than other crimes?

The idiot part is this:

That is roughly $40 million per year. For all of the people it will affect you save .000001 percent of the money for the entire budget.

While doing so you spend an additional $10 million policing the new policy. You spend another $5 on litigation with people who unjustly got swept into the mess.

Also in addition you end up not getting the money you would have received had all of those foreign workers who are behind in payments been allowed to work within the law. Now they are going to go completely off of the grid. And you will spend $10 million policing that.

It reminds me of drug testing welfare recipients. You end up losing money on that too.

If they really gave two shits about anything it would be figuring out how to get back the BILLIONS tech companies have stored in foreign accounts. THAT would be the same cost to police, but a 1000 times yield on money actually received.

Anyone who wants to give the government even more power has to be a complete idiot.

IMO this is only the start of really financially oppressive and confiscatory powers that are going to be coming up in the future. It's much easier to take wealth than to cut welfare bill and reduce spending by over bloated big government.

Don't forget that most people don't work for a living, they vote for a living.

Indeed...this is just one more intrusion into an individuals person freedom which is so quickly being taken away bit by bit over the past few years. The freedom to get the fuck out of this shithole should always be an option!

The IRS doesn't even need a court order to hit your bank account..... think who else has the power in the USA...... nobody
