Interesting Fact about Priming
Did you know that if you introduce someone and point out their negative traits first, the people they meet will generally have a negative view of the person? Let's say Joe is giving a presentation, you introduce him two ways, saying the exact same thing only changing the order of words.
1. Hey everyone, this is Joe. He's a brilliant web programmer, a great visionary, but is a pretty lazy guy. VS. 2. Hey everyone, this is Joe. He's a pretty lazy guy, but a brilliant web programmer, and great visionary. A majority of people will have a positive view of Joe if you use introduction 1. But most will have a negative view if you use introduction 2. It's a pretty big deal in the business world. Now think about how you can use it to be a better business person.  |
