    Fucking PayPal.

I've had a PayPal account for over 15 years, and use it to process a bunch of reoccurring monthly payments. Last week I bought a some electronics on eBay for Christmas. I had to link my PayPal account in order to do a buy it now. I just got an email saying until I reach an acceptable reputation on eBay, they are holding my money for 21 days.

I've processed thousands of dollars through them for over a decade and a half, and now this bullshit. Does anyone know if this hold can be removed? I have deposits going in on the 15th, and would rather not wait 21 days to access them.

It's worth calling them. PayPal rocks. They'll usually bend over backwards to make you happy.

I've never seen a company eat a sale to make both sides happy. PayPal lost money. They gave the customer his money back and let me keep what I billed him. And I'm not talking about a few bucks. Now that's fucking customer service!

Hope they get it sorted for you. I've heard horror stories, but it's always been fine for me so far.

Since eBay & PayPal split...that's the issue...but I would bet that if you call up PayPal, you can get it sorted out, especially if you have the PayPal business type account.

Not really. I have had more or less a similar problem with PayPal. They asked me to verify i'm a programmer and where i get my business from. One of the places i sent them to verify at is GFY where i actively get clients from. I linked them to my profile here. They have no problems with it.

OP, contact their higher departments, talk nicely and polite, explain the situation in details and they will call you back within a couple days. If all legit, you should be good.

It's painfully obvious you've never conducted business with Ebay.

Paypal holds your money on the items you've sold, not money on the items you've purchased. If they were to hold purchasing money, the electronics seller on the other side would not be paid for 21 days. That would be absurd!

Paypal and Ebay are two separate entities. After selling a item on Ebay and have accumulated five positive feed backs of speedy shipping, undamaged items, the financial holding clause is removed.

Not true. I just got off the phone with them, and they said once accounts are linked, any time anyone sends money, regardless if through eBay or not, the money is held. I didn't sell anything, a customer paid an invoice, and that money was held. Even though I created and sent the invoice through PayPal.

According to the manager I spoke with, it's an automated system that is activated once you link accounts. They don't care if you created your PayPal account 15 years ago, or already processed hundreds of thousands worth of transactions. All linked accounts are flagged.

The manager did review my account and removed the hold. He did so when I complained that the money currently being held was sent by an individual who has sent me authorized payments for the past several years with no issue. He agreed and removed the hold, but it took some finesse and sweet talking. He did not want to remove it, and I could tell he was well coached on explaining how to keep the hold in place. The issue is resolved, PayPal came through and removed the hold.

I don't process any adult through PayPal, only mainstream shit. My invoices are very detailed in that regard.

You just reminded me to empty my Paypal account - why take chances?

BTW how do you find out when you opened your Paypal account? Is it shown somewhere?
