They said this a few days ago that there was no heat source trail to the ground, as in no rocket launch. Yes, that one. In Russia it's known as Caribbean crisis. Right now we have no nukes on Cuba as well as the States have no nukes in Turkey, but the overall situation is very unstable. If one of the sides make a mistake, it may start a chain reaction which will end up very bad to both Russians and citizens of NATO countries.

According to the local news, some additional SA-22 Greyhound and SA-17 Grizzly (AKA BUK) systems were sent to Syria. Those are made to work together: SA-17 to intercept high flying targets like bombers and jet-fighters (50 km range for targets like F-15) and SA-22 against the low flying ones like cruise missiles etc (can hit a target with a zero attitude). Indeed. But that's an official version. If you look at tech specs of Russian air defense systems in Syria, you will see they have an outspoken military functionаlity. E.g. SA-17 intercepts USAF ALCM's with a 70%-80% probability from 26 km and the same probability for F-15 from 50 km.
