Actually, Hungary also passed several other laws within the same "package".
The wall "law" went through because the majority of hungarians do not want immigrants nor refugees in their country.

Military may intervene to protect the influx of migrants to Hungary which they weren't allowed to.

Anybody who crosses the border and into Hungary will get a minimum of 1 year in jail and a monetary fine with deportation+ban when jailtime is done.

But basically they can't stop immigrants going into their country. With all of the military and police guarding the borders, only 2000-3000 immigrants is enough and the whole "border patrol" will fail. You can't stop people without a high, sturdy wall. What hungarians have is barbed wire and fence on railway/road border crossings.

Americans love illegals though!

People can wait a decade plus, spend thoudands to enter and certain US government officials want to give a path to citizenship for illegals.

It is a pity that native Americans didn't have these immigration laws in place.
I am always kind of baffled when Americans complain about illegal immigration.
But yeah, most likely settlers civilized all those savages.
