Beware of phishing scheme claiming to be Namesilo

From address is abuse at namesilo.com.info

Subject is: Domain **domain name was here ** Suspension Notice

    Text of the email is:

    Dear Sir/Madam,

The following domain names have been suspended for violation of the NameSilo, LLC Abuse Policy:

Domain Name: ** Domain name was here **
    Registrar: NameSilo, LLC
Registrant Name: ** My name was here **

Multiple warnings were sent by NameSilo, LLC Spam and Abuse Department to give you an opportunity to address the complaints we have received.

We did not receive a reply from you to these email warnings so we then attempted to contact you via telephone.

We had no choice but to suspend your domain name when you did not respond to our attempts to contact you.

Click here and download a copy of complaints we have received.

Please contact us for additional information regarding this notification.

    Sincerely,
    NameSilo, LLC
    Spam and Abuse Department
    Abuse Department Hotline: 480-822-0076
Link where it says click here is to nerdsearching.com/abuse_report.php?** domainname was here **

A reverse lookup on the phone number gave me nothing so I do not know if that is Namesilo's actual number or not.

I went to their chat and tried to tell them about it, I did not get a reply. I could not find a phone number for them.

Their support chat is now shut down because it is past 4:30 Arizona time.

So, I do not know what they have to say about it.

Well. Cool. Yeah I didn't look at the bottom menu, I just hit the support link on the top menu.

I have now received several of these for various domains so tomorrow I will at least let them know that it is happening. Thanks.

                        Started getting this for Moniker.

Called them, told them. Said they should inform customers because all the links except 1 had legit Moniker links.

A week later, no emails, bad customer service IMHO.

I don't understand this response. Do you think that Moniker should just pretend it's not happening? Surely it would be better to send out a bulletin to their customers to warn them of these phishing attempts? Your Bill Gates analogy doesn't quite fit, because that was a social virus which was indiscriminately sent to everyone (dahhh this looks important, I should forward it to my friends!). In comparison, this phish is targeted at direct customers of a fairly limited set of companies.

Ouch. Ya I've gotten all sorts of phishing emails in the past and simply never click links in emails and instead go to the direct site. Problem solved.
