    Are overlays ok practice for paysite?

    Has anyone with a pay site integrated the use of an overlay to see if it had any effect on sales/customer engagement? A lot of company websites use overlays, but I haven't seen it on any adult pay sites yet.

    If you know of any pay sites that use an overlay, what are they?

      If you do use one, make sure it isn't done in Flash. Stay away from the Flash.

          Video Editing, Trailers, Intros, Pre-rolls, Custom Animations ...

              We use jquery overlays js-HTML.

              They are only as effective as your offer is
              Conversions have varied by the message.
              Best bet is to A<=>B or multiple message test them to see what is the most effective.
              90% to 99% just get closed -- include an [x] on the overlay as not to alienate customers.

                  And why would a paysite use them?.. I really don't like upselling in members areas, just sayin'..

                      Layovers can be sexy. I think at one time they were overused but had the potential to do well.

                          I remember at one time they seemed like they would do well, but everyone stuffed so much bs and fat code in them that they made the website slower than dial up in the 90s..
