If you think about it... This is perfect. Micheal J Fox first wore them in the movie, and now decades later he has Parkinsons and has problems.... lacing up his shoes.

The funny thing is bike shoes.... Those of us who wear bike shoes to clip in have something that works really good and I am surprised it hasn't caught on with everyone else yet. Turn the nob on the shoe and the laces tighten up....

Hell, now there's a genuine practical use.

I wore one of those walking casts when I tore my achilles heel a few years back. Self-lacing would've been great instead of straining to tighten the velcro straps.

You would think Nike would be all over this.

They started doing this with snowboard boots as well. Thing is if that mechanism breaks you're SOL. I also noticed those cables starting to cut into the boots.

My boots use a traditional lace with that locking mechanism to pull out the slack. At least if it breaks I can still board!
