New Pricing Policy @ CJ (30% Less!!)

Marc from <a href="http://traffic.consumptionjunction.com">Consumption Junction</a> here, and I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about our new <b>Pricing Policy</b> (keep reading, it?s 30% lower than before!).

We?ve had a whirlwind of activity to make CJ even better for both our advertisers and our fans. We have removed some of the banner and text link positions and redesigned the site navigation in an effort to make the site more appealing to our fans and to better qualify the traffic for advertisers. We?ve listened to our Fans and our Advertisers alike and in response have made adjustments.

We've <b>reduced our pricing by almost 30%</b> and we wanted to let you know how we came up with our new pricing (check the <a href="http://traffic.consumptionjunction.com/specials.html">Available Now / Profit Calculator Page</a> for new rates).

<a href=mailto:[email protected]>Sean Clarke</a> is responsible for selling as much of our advertising inventory as possible on a Retail basis. We send any remaining inventory to affiliate programs like TrafficCashGold.com, SilverCash.com, TopBucks.com, and DollarMachine.com. These programs typically get 10% to 20% of our ad rotation every month. At the end of each month, we determine the average revenue per click that we make off the clicks sent to these programs. Next, we figure out average number of clicks generated for each of our ad spots during the previous month. <b>We set the pricing for our ads by multiplying the average number of clicks generated by each placement times the average affiliate revenue per click.</b>

After crunching all the data, we found that in the month of February we averaged <b>6.75 cents of revenue for every click</b> that we sent to the affiliate programs (this is based on the clicks we record and the money they pay us which puts all the programs on a level playing field). So we?ve adjusted our pricing cost <b>7 cents a click</b>. We add in the extra 1/4th of a penny per click to cover the labor that goes into setting up campaigns for customers. <b>Honestly, this is a hell of a deal</b>. The traffic we send to affiliate programs is done on autopilot. We just setup the banners, text links, and videos that they give us and send it over. For our <b>Retail Customers</b>, we spend hours of time with each customer getting to know their sites and helping them create the perfect advert creative to maximize their return. The <b>Video Sponsorships</b> are a great example. The ones that we used to send traffic to affiliate programs averaged 8500 clicks each last month. The ones that we used to send to <b>Retail customers</b> averaged 19,000 clicks last month. That?s because we put in the time to help them get the perfect video.

The point of all this is that <b>we're charging the same for the traffic that we could make by sending it to the affiliate programs</b>. This system works because our Retail Customers can make more off CJ traffic than we can by sending it to affiliate programs. Most of these affiliate programs are using leased content. Sites that advertise on CJ with custom-content always do better than sites with leased content. That's why we do especially well for single-model amateur sites and reality-based sites. When we determine how much we make off CJ traffic by sending it to affiliate programs, we're not getting paid on email addresses collected, check transactions, cross sells, or all the exit consoles. These are all ways that you can make more off our traffic than we can by sending it to the affiliate programs.

We feel this method is best way to offer our customers <b>fair pricing</b> that will give them <b>a damn good chance of making a profit</b>. Yes, this does mean we're going to make roughly 30% less off selling our ads. But, we hope that it will also mean that the ads will be easier to sell and that more of our customers will renew their campaigns. We're still marketing as aggressively as ever, so I urge you to <b>take a look at our <a href="http://traffic.consumptionjunction.com/specials.html">new pricing</a> and get in touch with us</b> before we sell out of inventory!

Guess the "on the edge" excuse for the disgusting shuttle pics and the resulting fallout didn't play so well, eh?
Nice try but the spin still shows.

You know, a company tries to be striaght up and honest and set their pricing in a way that makes sense, and all we get is bitching about shuttle picks. Get over it. We are edgy and it does work. We could have kept the pricing where it was but it's smarter business to develop a pricing model that has a lower margin but more long-term potential.

10 Full-time, 3 Contract/Hourly employees. Growing every day to support the new CJ Bucks program and we're launching several more free content-archive CJ-type sites in the next 30 days.

You know I find it hard to believe that people actually make remarks about the taste of a site that bills itself with the tag line "What's Your Disfunction?"

That's like going to a porn theatre and complaining that the floor is sticky.

Where the hell did that picture of Sean come from? LOL.

That pic was taken the day I met Paul and Jay, in Miami last August. Oddly enough, it was the first time I drank in almost three years. That's where it all started for me and CJ (oddly appropriate).

consumptionjunction, can you please disclose the minimum amount that must be spent to sign on w/ you guys for banner-space? the last time i spoke w/ someone over at CJ after seeing a post here about special pricing, it turned out that the minimum fee was more than i wanted to spend... any number relating to the minimum amount of regular banner impressions we can purchase would be great..!

All our pricing can be found on our Available Now / Profit Calculator page. The minimum right now for a banner campaign is $550 for 5,000,000 120x240 banner impressions. This is typically run over a 7 to 10 day period.

Martin, we've gone round and round with this issue. The bottom line is that if you don't feel like doing business with us, then don't. That's fine. Personally I prefer working with customers that enjoy our particular brand of humor. That's one of the beauties of starting your own company. You have the luxury of being able to decide who you want to do business with.

I'll make this point one more time. While you judge us, you're missing out on a hell of a lot of business. The fact is that last month we had over 7,000,000 visitors to our site. Visitors that you would judge as "low lifes". BUT, these "low lifes" have credit cards. They buy porn. LOTS of it. I'm always tripped out when I hear pornographers basically say they'd turn away memberships b/c of moral judgements.

But hey, one thing that WE'RE good at is tolerance and not judging others. Do what you want and I won't disrespect you for it. There are plenty of people in this business that either laugh at our humor with us or at least don't let their particular-personal moral judgements get in the way of generating sign-ups for their sites.

Good comeback! No worse than using pictures of women getting but fucked or taking a face full of cum to make money. Its also a whole lot smarter way to get traffic than giving away what your trying to sell.

Though my little single model paysite has way too low a monthly price to make money on the ads, I just wanted to say that your Java Popup chat was really cool!

Don't be so sure. Our best customers are single-model amateur sites. WifeysWorld.com kills on every campaign they do. CumOnDagny.com has been with us for almost two years. KaraDavis.com loves the traffic we send them to.

The biggest reason sites like yours do well is b/c you have the ability to shoot custom content that appeals to our fans. Video Sponsorships kill with this type of content. Here's some links to ones that are good examples:

Great Video Sponsorship 1
Great Video Sponsorship 2
Great Video Sponsorship 3
Great Video Sponsorship 4

Custom clips like these typically average 40,000 clicks each. If you convert 1/500, then that means 80 Joins. If you're charging $17.95/month (like on your BustyLexxus site and you retain for 2 months, then you'd make $2,872. Considering we sell a single Video Sponsorship for $1000, it makes a lot of sense.

Damn it, you're right!

But you said
Quote:
Custom clips like these typically average 40,000 clicks each
but in the profit calc it says February clicks 41195, is that for each of the five video slots or does each video sponsorship only get 8000 clicks?

Not trying to pick holes just trying to understand as I'm really thinking about giving it a try.

No worries man, I welcome the discussion. That average is based on all the Video Sponsorships we ran in February. We run 2 Video Sponsorships a day (every one stays up for 30 days).

Usually 1 is for an affiliate program like TopBucks, TrafficCashGold, or SilverCash. These are not custom-content shot just for our fans.

We also usually run 1 Video Sponsorship a day for our Retail Customers. Of those, only 5 to 10 a month are custom-shot content. By custom-shot content, I mean that we typically spend a 1/2 hour or so on the phone with the customer discussing ideas on what would work well. We usually send them out a "Customer Pack" of our T-Shirts and Stickers to use on the shoot. Take a look up the thread for great examples.

Anyay, of the 5 to 10 custom-content Video Sponsorships we post every month, these typically average 40K clicks each. That's why these are such sweet deals for sites that can make custom-content for the videos. As I said at the beginning of this thread, our pricing is based on the average performance of the traffic we send to the affiliate programs (as in using non-custom content).

Guys,

Just wanted to take the time to let everyone know how helpful CJ has been to me and my company.

As I was getting started in the business, I ran into some problems with a "so-called" turnkey vendor. - I was basically fleeced for a couple of thousand dollars.

Feeling embarrased about getting dupped, I decided to redesign my sites and do everything that the turnkey vendor promised that he'd do for me.

So I started an adult based company in Maryland called the MODENA Group. We design and run our own Adult Paysites, Swinger/Matchmaker sites, Adult Toy Sites and offer design services to anyone looking to get into the business themselves.

Since my life up to this point was spent as a Corporate Webmaster (BMG, MindSpring, USi) I wanted some help positioning my products in this market space.

Being a fan of Consumption Junction, I decided to purchase advertising on their site. What I found was that I not only purchased a banner ad that delivered. I also created a strong relationship and friendship with Marc and Sean.

These guys helped me put together a plan of attack that would help me grow my business, and drive traffic to the site even after the marketing campaign was over.

To this day, I speak with Marc and Sean (almost daily) and they offer me advice about the industry and my sites. The great part is they do it for free.

I would reccomend my clients to use CJ as they get started.

(to tired to use spell check)
