    Do you get the Flu shot?

    I've never gotten a flu shot but I'm thinking about it this year.
    They say that last year the flu shot was only 20% effective but they have modified
    the vaccine to match the virus now.

    My current flu prevention method of avoiding all human contact gets boring.
    I mean, if all the liquor stores are closed then I have to go to a bar.

                                          if you're healthy and such, why bother really. it's only like a 12% chance of getting the flu, and that's if your social, much less if you're anti-social.

                                          on the other hand, what's the difference. it's only like $22 @ walgreens. bing bang in and out.

                                                      They recently sent a letter asking for authorisation to vaccinate my 6 year old daughter for the flu.
                                                      I tried to object, I have never had flu, my wife has never had flu and no one we know has ever had flu ( we have been poorly, had a cold, fever, etc etc but not something that could kill us or immediate family).
                                                      Anyway my wife said "well if everyone else is getting it done"

                                                      I just rolled my eyes and signed the damn form.

                                                                              Just because someone who was really sick and about to die then got finished off by Flu, doesn't mean they died because of the Flu, it was simply the straw that broke the camel's back. If anything the Flu was their friend and put them out of their misery. Flu death numbers are manipulated and include pneumonia deaths. Perfectly healthy people don't die of the Flu, but they can die from the Flu Shot itself

Research both sides of the story, my own sister died from a vaccine, that forced me to start looking into the science in detail. My brother-in-law almost died after a vaccine and my nextdoor neighbor now requires expensive drugs to keep him alive after a travel vaccine which almost killed him. Look around you it's happening all the time, but it's not being tracked as the pharmaceuticals care first about money, the system is not designed to report what they do not want you to see.

                                                                                                      I used to get it like clockwork every year and I would also get the flu every year. I just assumed it would have been worse without it. Then I missed it one year and didn't get the flu. I haven't gotten it since. In the roughly 18 years since I have stopped getting it I have had the flu 2-3 times. Beats the hell out of every year so I will continue to skip it.

                                                                                                                                  Each time I got the shot - I came down with the flu. Yeah, perhaps a milder version than if I hadn't been vaccinated. But like you, when I skipped a few years and went without, I got no flu.

                                                                                                                                  I have nothing against the flu shot - I just got pre-occupied and didn't get around to getting it. And never regretted it. Tons of people I know did get the shot...with no real detrimental side effects.

                                                                                                                                                                              We advocate and even pay for our employees to get flu shots if they want them and their insurance won't cover the cost.
                                                                                                                                                                              Out of the 30 or so employees that have gotten the flu during that time (obviously we have turnover and not everyone gets one each year, only one had a flu shot. None of the others got the flu that did get the shot.

                                                                                                                                                                              Seems to me that the flu shots are usually very effective, can help prevent you from getting extremely ill, take only minutes to administer, and are covered by insurance.

People come here from all over the world all of the time. Every time I pump gas, get on an elevator, push a shopping cart, use a pen at the bank, handle money, touch a door handle, stand in a crowd, breathe someone else air, expose myself in any fashion outside of my house and this does not include the germs my son brings home from school or my wife's exposure, I'm picking up some goddamn exotic germs. I got a flu shot yesterday, no drama, no nothing. Odds are good that somewhere I'm going to be exposed to the flu virus or an epidemic might break out quickly. It's a win if I don't get it from chance or because I used available protection. Why wouldn't I take advantage of modern medicine? If you've never gotten the flu that's fine, the day you get it, it will kick your ass up and down the street. And there is no cure or treatment. In effect, you're using the "good luck" treatment for the flu. I might use that for the lottery, but not my health.
