I want to build up my SE ranking so I'm thinking about adding a links section to my site, and I have two questions:

1. What has your experience with link management software been? Is this worth it for me?

2. Who makes the best link management software out there?

It's absolutely a good thing to have. For one thing, it removes fallow accounts automatically, and that's one less thing to keep track of.

If you're linking for link popularity be sure to not link to any known spammers. ID spammers by PR0 in google toolbar. Careful, though, the toolbar lies. If it says PR0 check to see if the page is in google, and if it is then chill and check it again in a few days.

...about the Google PR... I've got site with shit rank but lots of SE traffic. And for more than a year, too. Wassup with that?

As for link managment, I've got a system I wrote in Cold Fusion. Unfortunately I never can find anyone using CF. But it works nize.

could be lots of things. Maybe there's no competition for your search terms. Maybe your page is fresh. a few critical links could do it. There are other factors, plus the various factors interact, so sometimes you just can't say why something is ranking well. Understanding these factors can help you manipulate the system, so worth learning.

Best method to get consistent se traffic is to get PR5 and keyword optimize.

Yea I suppose some of the searches I get are original.
I get about 1000 google hits a day on most sites, which isn't that huge, with sometimes pretty strange search terms. It's amazing what some people search for. I won't go into detail about why I think these terms hit my pages, but one little thing that helps sometimes is I put a little news feed headline box on my page, so topical searches worm their way onto the search engines.
Like:
"pregnant underwater fuck"
"taliban pussy sex"

stuff like that... wheww
