Agreed. A good start would be for the Kurds to get their own state - they seem to be the only sane people in the region.

Yes, that's the Kurds. The Kurds are the ones standing up to ISIS and they are the ones that, for some strange reason, Obumbles refuses to help. They are also the ones that Saddam Hussein gassed with chemicals in 1998 killing up to 5000 people.

They are the largest ethnic group in the world without their own state and are divided between parts of Iraq, Syria, Iran and Turkey.

The Kurds are laced with their own problems, which is why many are having difficulties backing them. Several groups within the Kurds are marked as terrorist organizations. They have been fighting with Turkey etc. for years.

The Middle East is like Europe was 700 years ago. The wars, the families, the fighting. Funny thing is the Middle East had that 700 years ago, here we are 700 years later, same damn thing.

This fairytale of creating peace in the Middle East is a joke. It may be able to happen someday, but not with help from the outside world. They need to do it themselves. Until then, we should protect our interests (everyone bitches about oil but the real deal is those shipping lanes.) Unfortunately protecting our interests always seems to lead to getting drawn in to another battle that never ends.

Yes, some of them are marked as a "terrorist organization" by the US at the behest of "ally" Turkey because there is a large oppressed ethnic Kurdish population in Turkey. The Ottoman Empire absorbed what used to be the Kurd's homeland and they never got it back after the empire collapsed.

But with Islamists gaining more and more control in Turkey and the Turks enabling the flow of immigrants into Europe is Turkey really still a good ally to the west?

"Good?" Probably not. "Best available?" Most likely.

Not exactly a lot of options over there.

This is true. Its not only the USA that is to blame, but most of the middle east is controlled by the USA and an already bad situation was made worse by the USA.

Europe will learn not to be your ally, and it will pay with the shit storm of refugees.

America will pay indirectly, Euro will become a muslim zone, and then it will pay directly.

The USA will be the Israel of the world LOL

Ya for now. But if the Islamists take full control there then things are going to interesting pretty quick. Civil war in Turkey is a possibility.

In reality the "best availiable" allies are probably Israel and the Kurds but the US is currently giving both of them the cold shoulder.

We should take Israel and dig down about 200 feet around the entire country. Then airlift the entire "holy land" and bring it over here to Nevada and set it down in the desert.

Then the Israeli's could have their precious "holy land" and they would still be in the desert lol. We could treat it like a Native American reservation. Then the Palestinians could live happily ever after in that piece of shit desert in the Mid East and the United States could shut the door on that mad house.

Exactly! The 9/11 attack was an obvious result of the US Afghan politics. The CIA did a perfect job, no doubts about it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet%E2%80%93Afghan_War So much for the success of Storm 333.
